Back in the days when home consoles really started taking off, there wasNintendo. They weren’t the first home console, but they’re by far one of the biggest, holding an unbroken streak of fresh console releases ever since the NES back in 1983. They’ve had literal decades to cement their place in the games industry.
Across those decades, Nintendo has made numerous consoles of varying success, from the gargantuan popularity of the Switch to the often maligned Wii U. Across those many consoles, however, which of them actually has the most games for you to actually play?

How Many Nintendo Consoles Are There?
Though Nintendo is well known for its early beginnings and more quirky consoles along the way, they’ve actually madequite a large variety of consoles that have slipped under the radar. Some were niche products, while others were simply too…simple. Let’s take a look at them all below.

Fun fact - the Virtual Boy was the first ever console to fully display 3D graphics
That gives usa grand total of 16 consolesfrom Nintendo’s very beginnings until now. That’s a large amount, though they’ve significantly slowed in recent years. That said, the subsequent result of that is typicallylonger-lasting consoles with an even larger library.
Which Nintendo Console Has The Most Games?
So now we know just how many consoles Nintendo has actually created, butwhich of them has the most games releasedfor them?
While theDS held the top spot for many years, with over 2,000 titles, the Switch has blown it away. Though the exact number is constantly changing due to the Switch still receiving new games,it currently stands at over 5,000 gamesby Nintendo’s own metrics.
It’s a frankly staggering number they’re not likely to ever surpass in terms of native releases on a future console.
Which Nintendo Console Has The Least Games?
On the flip side of that, you might then be wonderingwhat Nintendo console got the least number of gamesreleased for it.
It would be easy to take something likethe Pokemon Mini, which only had 10 games released for it, or the Virtual Boy with 22, but that seems a little cruel. So let’s look instead at Nintendo’s more mainstream offerings.
In comparison to the Switch’s gargantuan library, the N64 is actually the Nintendo console with the least gamesand by a pretty significant margin. While the Gamecube’s considerably paltry offering of around 700 is quite small, the N64 is home to just under 400 gamesdespite the massive success of many of the games on the console, such as Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64.
