Before you get carried away and spend a solid hour trying to complete a difficult jumping puzzle inFinal Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, be sure to actually unlock the Sightseeing Log first, otherwise, all those treacherous jumps could be for naught.
you’re able to’t unlock Dawntrail’s Sightseeing Log straight away, so you’ll need to progress through the Main Scenario Quest a little bit before you can start checking them off your list. Here’s how and where to find the quest to unlock this feature.

How To Start The ‘Sights Of The West’ Sidequest
Before the quest will even appear as available, you first have to progress through the Main Scenario Quest until youhave completed ‘The Rite of Succession’, the fifth Dawntrail quest.
Once that’s done, you may accept the’Sights of the West’quest by speaking withElsebee Ironheartat(X:13.9, Y:10.1)inTuliyollal.Once you speak with her, you will complete the quest and have your Sightseeing Log expanded.
You must be Level 90 or above to be able to register a Dawntrail Sightseeing Vista.
The Dawntrail section of the Sightseeing Log will give you clues as to the location of each vista.
Elsebee Ironheart mentions her twin sister is doing the same thing in the other half of Tural, as one went to Yak and one went to Xak. That’s right, this is onlyhalfof the Sightseeing Log.
How To Spot And Complete Sightseeing Vistas
Sightseeing Vistas willappear as glowing orbsonce you have the Sightseeing Log unlocked. Simplystand where the orb is and use the correct /emoteto complete it, most commonly the /lookout emote. You’ll then register the Vista in your Sightseeing Log and gain some EXP!
The tricky part is finding all the Vistas, as some are placed at the top of very difficult jumping puzzles.
How To Expand Your Dawntrail Sightseeing Log
Once you’veprogressed through the Main Scenario Quests to the point of ‘Solution Nine’, you’ll be able to accept and immediately complete the quest’Sights of the West and Beyond’fromEmeline Ironheartat(X:16.7, Y:13.1)inSolution Nine.
This unlocks the other half of the Dawntrail Sightseeing Log, taking it to a total of 25. Happy hunting!
