InHades 2, you collect crafting materials to unlock various incantations and strengthen Melinoe in her path of defeating Chronos, Titan of Time. While most of the materials require you to bring specialized tools, a few can be picked by bare hands.
Driftwood is one of the late-game crafting materials that you will have to acquire to unlock incantations requiring this item. This item may not seem important as soon as you get it, but its supply will be desired the most when you unlock most of the late-game incantations. This guide explains how to get Driftwood and where to use this item.

How To Get Driftwood
Driftwood is one of the few crafting materialsthat can onlybe found on the surface. Yougo to the surface by taking the path going northafter the stairsin the training room. The south side leads to the Underworld.
However, if you are in early or mid-game, you mayfirst need tobreak the surface ward, by concocting thePermeation of Witching-Wardsincantation. This incantation requires you to have the following items:
Once you have broken the ward, you mustreach the second biome called the Rift of Thessaly, after crossing the first one: Ephyra. Thistakes place on a ship, andit is where you will find the Driftwood.
Collecting Driftwood
Driftwood is not a guaranteed spawnin every run and it is a random event. Therefore, you willneed to do many runs to gather a decent amount of this crafting materialin the game.
Theitem can spawn during encounters or even in theCharhydbis’s boss room. As seen in the video above, we found our first Driftwood item in the boss area.
Similar to Lotus and Molly,you’re able to collect a Driftwood item without specialized tools.
Where To Use Driftwood
Driftwood can be used to concoct late-game incantationssuch asSandy Lifespring and Rite of River-Fording.
The former incantationunlocks a healing spot in the Rift of Thessaly biomewhere Melinoe can replenish her lost health, and thelatter unlocks a fishing pier in Crossroads.
