InDragon’s Dogma 2, you traverse the sprawling kingdoms of Vermund and Batthal, where you’re able to encounter numerous formidable foes of varying sizes and shapes. Among them, dragons and their lesser kin stand out as some of the toughest challenges you can hope to overcome.
These winged reptiles fiercely defend their territories and will burn any unsuspecting trespasser to a crisp. While you wouldn’t dare meddle with them at first, knowing the locations of every Drake and Lesser Dragon becomes crucial if you aim to get your hands on some of the best items later in the game. Here’s where to find them.

What Is The Difference Between Drakes And Lesser Dragons?
It iseasy to get Drakes and Lesser Dragons mixed up. Both these beasts are capable of obliterating you if you face them unprepared, but knowing the difference between the two can come in handy if push ever comes to shove.
Appearance
While they are fairly equal in size, you can easily tell them apart right from the get-go by their appearance:
Weak Spots
They also havedifferent weak spots:
Exploiting their weaknesses causes these creatures to stagger and eventually trip over, leaving them vulnerable to increased damagefrom all sides.
During this state, you may start your onslaught and quickly chip away at their large health bars.

Another thing to note is that while aDrake tends to be the weakest among the two, it possesses a wider range of attacks. Both can breathe fire and maul your party using their claws and jaw, butDrakes can also attack with Magick attacks.
They often resort tolightning attacksif you stray far from the beast, and some late-gameDrakes can also summon meteorsthat can lay waste to anything in their wake.

Why You Should Hunt Drakes And Lesser Dragons
You’ll have to hunt down Drakes and Lesser Dragons because, besides providing hands-on experience onslaying a dragon, they also drop certain amounts of arare resource known asWyrmslife Crystalsonce killed. The significance of this resource becomes apparent if you ever make it to the secret post-game region called theUnmoored World.
Navigating this alternate world is not for the faint-hearted, for resting hassevere repercussions, anddying can result in losing hours of progressionin this desolate world. However, if you havea surplus of WLCupon arriving, it’ll make navigation through this section considerably smoother.

That is because some of themost powerful weaponsand armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are only available in the Unmoored World, and theycost WLC to obtain.
These can be obtained fromthe Dragonforged, the only NPC that trades in WLC, after he restocks his wares in the Unmoored World. Of course, he’ll haveitems catering to every Vocation, but you can expect to spend a hefty amount of WLC on them.

The Dragonforged can also upgrade weapons with theWyrmfire style of enhancement, which greatly reduces the weapon’s weight and further strengthens it to a great extent.
Of course, this will also cost you quite a few Wyrmslife Crystals.

Just for the sake of reference, every weapon that he has on sale willcost you 110 WLC. Compare this amount to the scant few you obtain from slaying one Drake or Lesser Dragon (roughly 5-20 WLC), and you’ll realize how important it is to have slain enough of these beasts before tackling the endgame.
Collecting Wyrmslife Crystals is also an objective forA New Godsway quest.
How To Find Each Drake And Lesser Dragon
There are11 Drakes and five Lesser Dragonsthat we’ve managed to find across Vermund, Battahl and the Agamen Volcanic Island (including those we encountered in the Unmoored World).
While theDrakes respawnat the same location after a little over seven in-game days pass, making them farmable, theLesser Dragons, on the other hand, won’t respawn once slain.
