Crow Countryis an indie survival horror game reminiscent of the classics of old, like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. In it, you explore the titular Crow Country, an amusement park that holds many dark secrets, some regarding greed, but others about the future of humanity.
The game does its best to explain itself at the end, with a certain character explaining their motives to the main character. But with all the things going on, a lot of people end up confused as to what actually happened in the park, what does Brazil have to do with anything, and where did all the monsters come from.

Spoilers For The Entire Game!
The Story Of Crow Country
Chronologically speaking, the story of Crow Country starts with Edward Crow, a biochemist who inherits a piece of land in the United States from his late father. This was a special place, sinceyou could mine the purest form of gold from it, although not exactly from the earth:strange tubes have been growing from the landsince Edward was a child, and these tubes (called Root in the game) contain gold in them.
Edward built Crow Country, an amusement park,on top of the Root as a front to mine the gold, since even if he owned the land, he would still have problems with the government if they found out about his gold.He partnered up with a man called Marvin Trumbleto take the gold to a mine in Brazil, so they could claim that the gold came from there.

Edward made sure to have his name nowhere near the documentsregarding the mine in Brazil, entrusting the whole operation to Marvin. That way, if anyone was ever suspicious, all the blame would fall on Marvin Trumble instead of Edward.
The point of origin for the Root was deep underground, and in there wasa pool of strange green liquid. From it, strange deformed creatures would come out, and whileEdward did his best to contain the creatures, one of them eventually made its way to the park andattacked a young girl, named Elaine Marshall.

The Events Of 1990
Some time after the attack on Elaine, the park is shut down, and a lot of people are looking for Edward Crow. Edward is supposed to pay for Elaine’s medical bills, but he never does, and by 1990she’s told she doesn’t have long to live, since whatever attacked her infected her with an unknown virus.
Elaine disguises herself as a cop, Mara Forest, and that’s who you’re playing for the entire game. Elaine wants answers about what happened to her, soshe goes straight to the source:the park, Crow Country, and its owner, Edward Crow.
SinceElaine knows about the monsters, she wants to avoid any unnecessary deaths, hence whyshe slashes the tiresfrom the cop assigned to investigate Edward Crow,a man named James Harrison. Sadly, James makes it to the park anyway, andhe eventually meets his demise.
Marvin Trumble is also in the park, since the government finally wised up about their operation in Brazil. He works as the main antagonist of the game, but he’s more of a red herring, sincehe isn’t really aware of the monstersor the truth behind them.
You can meet many other characters in the game, helping them survive the nightmarish park. Butthey aren’t as relevant to the story as the main cast, hence why they can die without affecting the plot too much; do know that theonly two characters that die no matterwhat are Douglas Pike and Marvin Trumble.
The Ending Of Crow Country
Elaine finds Edward at the origin of the Root, with the strange green pool. Edward explains that he didn’t pay the medical bills due tono cure existing for her condition, and instead, he’s been researching a way to cure them on his own.
He manages to create several vials of antidote, but not enough for everyone infected, since anyone that comes into contact with the creatures (or Guests, as Edward calls them) is just as infected as Elaine. With only one vial missing,Edward claims to not need one, since he’ll jump into the green pool to see what is on the other side.
How many vials Edward makes is related to how many people are alive by the end. There always needs to be one vial less than the number of people alive, so if you save every NPC possible, Edward makes five vials.
Before jumping into the pool, Edward Crow explains to Elaine all he could discover about the Guests. They aren’t really monsters, but people from the year 2106that are afflicted by a strange disease, and they travel back in time to create a cure.
The issue was thatthe Root was part of the time machine, and with Edward Crow and Marvin Trumble extracting the gold from it, they were tampering with the machine. The more gold they took, the more disfigured and horrific the people from the future arrived.
This is why the number 2106 can be found several times throughout the game, asthe Guests are trying their best to communicate. This is even noted by Tolman, the park’s engineer, close to the end, as the monsters seem to be less aggressive to them in certain areas.
In the end,Edward jumps into the poolbecause he wants to see what the future looks like, but quicklybecomesthe most horrifying monsterin the park, and Elaine quickly dispatches him. It all ends with her meeting with the other survivors, everyone deep in thought after all that has transpired.
It is possible thatthe infection afflicting Elaine Marshall is the same as the one in the future, meaning thatthe original cause of the infection was the time traveling itself. We can’t know that for sure though, and we will have to wait for a sequel to tell us how time moves forward now that Elaine has a cure for her condition.
