Summary
TheFalloutShow has many characters with diverse backgrounds, representing the different factions seen in the games. One interesting faction is the Brotherhood of Steel, a military group that seeks to find and contain the technology from the old world.
While the main character we follow from the Brotherhood is Maximus, his main friend among the aspirants is Dane, who seemed like the most skilled out of the aspirants before they suffered an unfortunate injury. But we are never told exactly what happened to Dane, since there is no way we can consider their injury an accident.

What Happened With Dane?
Once an aspirant is considered worthy among their peers, they are chosen to become a squire to a knight, being able to undertakemissions for the Brotherhood.Dane was among the chosen ones to go out to the wastelandand follow their knight on their quest.
But the morning Dane was supposed to get ready for their mission, they suffered a grave injury:a blade was hidden inside their boot, so once they tried to put it on, it nearly cut their foot in half.Maximus is blamed for the incident, due to his assumed jealousy of Dane and close friendship, but since no one can prove he did it,Maximus is then chosen to go on the mission instead of Dane.

Even the audience is led to believe that Maximus did it, since we spend several scenes seeing how he was truly jealous of Dane. He also claims that he’s somewhat glad it happened because it allowed him to become a squire.
Did Maximus Put The Blade On Dane’s Boot?
At the end of the show, it is revealed thatMaximus didn’t cause Dane’s injury. In fact,it was Dane who put the blade on their own boot. They claim thatthey were afraid of going out into the wasteland, but that they are sorry that everyone blamed Maximus for it, since it wasn’t their intention.
Afterthe final confrontation with the NCR,Dane finds Maximus with a dead Moldaver(the leader of the NCR), andquickly proclaims that Maximus killed her, making Maximus a knight(they likely wanted him to take the credit out of guilt). Why Dane has the authority to grant knighthood to Maximus isn’t clear, although it could be aBrotherhood of Steel customafter killing an enemy leader.
