Helldivers 2features a wide variety of armor to wear and protect yourself from the enemies of Super Earth. Most armor pieces come with default stats divided into three categories: stamina, speed, and armor rating. However, each piece also comes with an armor perk that completely changes the playstyle.

The armor perk gives your helldivers the extra boost required to complete an objective. Each perk caters to a certain playstyle, and you dedicate yourself to that role should you pick it. For example, the Med Kit armor perk gives two more stims. Hence, you’re able to either survive longer or offer extra stims to your teammates.

Scout

All armors with aScout armor perk can be played as a recon or stealth playstyle. Thisarmor perk pings nearby threatswhen you place the markeron the map every two seconds. These pinged enemies not only appear for you, but your teammates can see them on their mini-map as well, giving the squad an advantage to plan the offense accordingly.

Secondly, theScout armor perk reduces your helldiver’s detection range by 30 percent. Enemies will have a much harder time spotting your character if you are wearing armor with the Scout armor perk. While playing main objectives via stealth is never a mission completion requirement, many players still prefer taking out targets usinga stealth buildin the game.

That is why thebest solo buildsare better when you run with a stealth playstyleinstead of guns blazing when you see a target. Thisaggressive playstyle is even harderto pull off alone while playingon the Helldive difficulty,so the Scout armor could bethe best armorfor you to play solo.

Scout armor is reserved for the light armor types only. While the light armor-wearing helldivers can not tank damage and will die in a few hits, they have the advantage of a higher running speed and faster stamina regeneration.

Fortified

The Fortified armor perk is the opposite of the Scout perk. It ensuresyour helldiver survives longer with an increase of 50 percent resistance to explosive damage. This armor perk is curated for players who like to lead the squad, attack any point of interest, and take hits themselves instead of other teammates.

TheFortified armor perk also favors players running with a higher rate of fireweapons. Whenever you go prone or crouch to open fire, you get a 30 percent reduced recoil. Weapons such as the M-105 Stalwart, MG-43 Machine Gun, and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun will take maximum advantage in terms of reduced recoil.

Using theFortified armor perk against the Terminds is less desirable, as you will never take incoming explosive damage. We recommend picking this up during the Automaton missions to get the most out of the Fortified perk. When you have the Fortified armor perk,Rocket Devastators and Rocket Hulks will pose a much lesser threatafter having 50 percent more explosive damage protection.

Unlike the Scout perk, the Fortified armor perk is found across all armor types: Light, Medium, and Heavy.

Med Kit

Med Kit armor perk offers players two playstyles. You canbecome an ultimate survivorby taking advantage of extra stims and the short invulnerability duration.Or, you can support your teammatesand stim them whenever they run out of injectors.

Regardless of the playstyle, theMed Kit armor perk is most desirable against Automatons. While playing against the bots, you are bombarded by cannons, rockets, grenades, and ranged gunfire, sometimes all at once. Running out of stims is common, especially when you play Automaton missions on Helldive difficulty.

Therefore, thetwo more stims and the two-second extra stim effect duration of the Med Kit armor perk give you a breakandmake your helldiver unkillable. You can even get shot byan Annihilator Tank’s cannon, and it still will not kill you while you are under the stim effect duration.

Engineering Kit

Anoffensive playstyle can never be better without the Engineering Kit. This armorperk gives your helldiver two more grenadesin the inventory and offers a30 percent reduced recoil while firing in a prone or crouching position.

If your go-to support stratagems are theM-105 Stalwart,MG-43 Machine Gun, and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun, then you may aim better and hit more targets due to less recoil by this armor perk.

Servo-Assisted armor perk effects listed in Helldivers 2

This armor perk not only improves control of the machine guns but will also benefit primary weapons, such as the Adjudicator and Liberator Penetrator, which have increased recoil.

Theextra grenades are valuable in missions like Blitz. The two moreG-16 Impact grenadeswillensure you plug bug holes or destroy Automaton Fabricatorsfrom a zone without having to worry about running out of grenades.

Extra Padding

Ahigher armor rating ensures you soak more damageand survive longer. Since you will be taking much less damage, this armor perk also saves you the trouble of running out of stims, so you will not rely on these frequently.

While you’re able to only get a higher armor rating on heavy armor, the Extra Padding armor perk gives 50 more armor rating to a few Light and Mediumarmor pieces.

Unlike the Fortified armor perk, which gives a greater advantage against bots, theExtra Padding is useful against both factions: Terminids and Automatons.

Electrical Conduit

TheCutting Edge Warbondbrought three new armors, each with the Electrical Conduit perk. Helldivers wearing this armor passive willget 95 percent resistance from the arc damage. This perk is helpful if most of your squadmates use arc-based weapons, such as theARC-3 Arc Thrower, ARC-12 Blitzer, andA/ARC-3 Tesla Towerdefensive stratagem.

The Electrical Conduit perk armor passive has no advantage if no teammate uses arc-based equipment. Therefore, keep an eye on your squadmates while picking the loadout before diving out of the Hellpod. Only go for Electrical Conduit armor perks if you see your teammates picking up relevant stratagems.

Democracy Protects

The Democracy Protects armor perk gives a 50 percent chance that your helldiver will survivea lethal attack. This means even a 500KG Bomb or a direct cannon hit from the Annihilator tank can not kill you if the armor’s passive procs.

Whenever the perk works, you will be left with one HP. This armor perk saves the reinforcement budget, as there will be many instances where an Eagle Cluster Bomb wipes the entire team, leaving only you as the last man standing because the Democracy Protects perk triggered and saved your life.

While there is a great appeal to wearing armor with Democracy Protects passive, the 50 percent trigger chance is not muchto go on whileplaying missions on Helldive difficulty.

Servo-Assisted

TheServo-Assisted armor passive offers a 30 percent increased throwing range and a 50 percent increase in limb health. This perk is effective for an aggressive playstyle and for players who rely mostly on the Eagles and Orbital stratagems.

Thisperk shines while playing Blitz missions on the Automaton faction. you’re able to see the Automaton fabricators from a distance, but you need to get close to destroy them. With the Servo-Assisted armor perk, you can throw an Eagle Rocket Pod or Eagle Airstrike stratagem from a distancewhile remaining away from the posted threats, such as Striders and Marauder bots on the POI.

Theincreased limb healthperk from Servo-Assisted armor showcases itsuse when going against Automatons. Since the bots deal with ranged damage, and you easily get hit on limbs and can injure them, having higher limb health is a welcome addition.
