You are free to explore the secrets of a post-apocalyptic wasteland inOnce Human. In this survival-horror MMORPG, you’ll have a vast world with various areas to investigate and quests to complete. You will need to gear up in order to fight off different hostile enemies, all the while ensuring you have the necessities to survive.

The five aspects of your body that you’ll need to keep watch over are your energy, oxygen, hunger, thirst, and sanity. Sanity in particular is driven by Stardust contamination. Insanity will lower your maximum health, and you will need ways to get your sanity back up.

What Is Sanity?

Sanityis one of the vital stats to keep an eye on for the survival of your character in Once Human. The icon for sanity is represented bya head above your health bar.

Your character will lose sanity if they enterareas that are polluted with Stardust, or if they areattacked by aberrant monsters.

You’ll be notified ifStardust pollutionis building up in an area you’ve entered. Entering a contaminated zone willdrain your sanity to a certain point, after which it will stay at that level even if you remain in the area.

Bodies of water are also contaminated, soswimming will cause you to go insane.

Consuming contaminated items can also lower your sanity. This includeseating spoiled food,raw meat, andcertain cooked food.

When you start going insane, your health bar starts filling up with an insanity bar.This reduces your maximum health points, and you will not be able to remove insanity using Activators.

While insanity can reduce your maximum health,this will not reduce it to zero.

What Is A Whim?

If your sanity drops below half, you will gain a condition known as aWhim. Whims affect you in different ways, and you can gain them throughinsanity or by taking elixirs.

you may only havesix active Whimsat a time. You can see how many Whims you have and the conditions that they inflict by clicking on Whim Details when you hover over the sanity icon on your character inventory screen.

You can regain sanity by eitherconsuming certain thingsorsleeping in bed.

Using Consumables To Regain Sanity

Some consumables, such asFruit Tea,alcohol, andsugar, can help in regaining a bit of sanity. Having sanity-restoring consumables in your bag is essential before you head out exploring.

Some sanity-restoring items will require astove, which can be unlocked by spending Ciphers or Meme Points on theStovesMemetic under the Logistics tab of your Memetics menu.

You will also need tounlock theCooking IIMemeticunder the same tab to unlock some recipes for sanity-restoring consumables.

Fruit Teais a great consumable to craft and take with you because it can restore400 points of sanity and 50 points of hydration. It only requires a cup of water and two flowers to make. The downside is thatthis expires after 24 hours.

Another item to use to regain a chunk of sanity while away from home is theSanity Gummy. It takes one cup of water and one serving of sugar to make, and consuming one piece allows you toregain 500 points of sanity.

Sanity Gummywill alsoremove negative Whimswhen consumed.

Using A Bed To Regain Sanity

Another way to regain sanity is bysleeping in a bed. This is a great way to regain sanity because it will also restore any lost health. That being said, it doesn’t restore all your sanity instantly.

When you regain sanity by sleeping in bed,it doesn’t cure you of negative Whims. This is a good way to cure insanity if you prefer to keep some useful conditions obtained from certain Whims.

A bed can be crafted byunlocking the Basic Furniture Memeticunder the Building tab on your Memetics screen.

A bed can be crafted using twenty logs and three adhesives. This canonly be constructed on your territory.

If you’re at home, you shoulduse the bed instead of taking a Sanity Gummyor other consumables when trying to regain sanity. This will allow you to save consumables for when you head out.
