Summary

Marvelhas spent the last 16 years bringing some of its most iconic comic book characters to life, introducing them to millions more people than ever knew of them in the comics through theMCU’s movies and TV shows. Odds are you’d not heard much, if anything, about characters like Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Drax before the MCU. Particularly Drax and the rest of theGuardians of the Galaxywho shot to stardom thanks to their first movie. Fast forward a decade and Groot is now well-loved enough to have an entire range of his ownFunko Popsdrop all at the same time.

Groot’s unique powers allow him to grow leaves and branches at will, and as demonstrated in his new line of Funko Pops, that allows him to disguise himself as other superheroes. Well, disguise might be a stretch. Still in his baby form which was first introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and has remained for the I Am Groot mini-series on Disney Plus, the sapling has grown his leaves into different shapes and patterns for each Pop, cosplaying as a different Marvel hero every time.

There are so many figures in the new We Are Groot range that I’m not convinced I’ve managed to track them all down. Among the initial sixshared by Funko Pop Newsyou can see Groot with a wooden shield in his attempts to become Captain America, muscled up with a chest full of leaves so he looks like the Hulk, and with a leafy cowl for a Groot as Wolverine figure. Particularly timely as some of you may have already watched the season finale of the fantastic X-Men ‘97 which dropped on Disney Plus today.

Everyone Is Groot

Since those initial six appeared online, Dr. Strange and Black Panther Pops have also appeared, the latter featuring vines across the brooding Groot’s face to replicate the vibranium lines on Black Panther’s mask. There’s alsoan Amazon-exclusive Alpha Groot, and some of the Pops are getting matching Funko plushes, including the Wolverine figure.

Lots of Funko news hitting this week. First looks at two new Pokemon Pops have been shared online, although you may have to make your way to a Comic-Con later this year to get your hands on them.An Arceus figurewas the first to be revealed and is believed to be a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, andthe Dialga Pop that followedwill likely be released during New York Comic-Con weekend.
