Summary

UbisoftToronto, the team behind the upcomingSplinter Cellremake, has changed its profile picture and banner on Facebook following the announcement of this year’s Ubisoft Forward, potentially hinting at an announcement there.

Although Ubisoft has spent the last few console generations keeping most of its iconic series under wraps and without any new entries (I feel your pain, Rayman fans), that has started to change recently. Not only have we had a new Prince of Persia game, with anotherreportedly on the way this year, but we also received confirmation some time ago that Sam Fisher is finally going to be making a comeback.

Back in 2021,Ubisoft randomly confirmed out of nowhere that a remake of the original Splinter Cell was in developmentat Ubisoft Toronto, an announcement that wasfollowed by some sparse details and some early concept art. With at least three years of development time, 2024 has looked like the year it would be revealed for some time, a theory that just gained some major traction.

Ubisoft Toronto Seems To Be Teasing Fans

As shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subredditandoriginally pointed out by Twitter user MauroNL3, Ubisoft Toronto recently changed its profile picture and header image on Facebook to show some imagery from the Splinter Cell remake. The profile picture shows the studio’s logo with a green tint, while the cover image is of Sam Fisher’s goggles.

This usually wouldn’t be too much more than a little hint, but considering Ubisoft confirmed yesterday that its yearly event, Ubisoft Forward, will return this Summer, it does seem like Ubisoft Toronto has done it purposefully as an acknowledgement of the event. That, or it’s some comedically bad timing that will end up crushing a bunch of stealth fans like myself.

It’s worth noting that Facebook says the header image and profile picture are both from 2023, but it appears that it has been changed since then and only recently changed back to these images following the Ubisoft Forward announcement.

Will The Splinter Cell Remake Be At Ubisoft Forward?

It’s possible that Ubisoft Toronto simply changed its profile picture to reflect one of its upcoming titles and that it has no bearing on Ubisoft Forward, but considering the timing and how long the project has been in development (as well as the fact that it has good groundwork in place already as a remake), it does seem like it’s hinting towards it being there.

We’ll have to wait until June 10 to find out for sure, but we can also expect Ubisoft to confirm at least some of the games that are going to show up at the event.Considering we’ve got a new Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars Outlaws both seemingly coming this year, it’s shaping up to be a big show.
