Ever since 2020, one of the biggest streaming mysteries has been why Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, better known asDr Disrespect, was suddenly fired from Twitch. Over the past week, it’s been revealed thatBeahm’s instant ban was due to him using the Whisper app on Twitch to inappropriately message a minorand allegedly arrange to meet up with them.
After that allegation was first reported,Beahm took to Twitter to confirm that he was fired from Twitch for messaging a minor, while also attempting to defend himself by claiming that “nothing illegal happened”. Since making that statement onTwitter, Beahm has been dropped by several partners, including his own gaming studio, Midnight Society, and, as of today, Turtle Beach.
Turtle Beach Is Cutting Ties With Dr Disrespect
As reported by TechRadarGaming, Turtle Beach offered a brief statement confirming that it wouldn’t be working with Beahm anymore, simply saying, “We will not be continuing our partnership with Guy Beahm / Dr Disrespect”. Turtle Beach’s representative didn’t give a reason as to why the partnership was ending, which suggests it’s due to the recent controversy.
Beahm’s partnership with Turtle Beach started in 2020 and eventually resulted in a limited edition gaming headset based on the streamer, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Dr Disrespect Limited Edition. TechRadarGaming notes that the listing for that headset has been removed from Turtle Beach’s website andthat several mentions of Dr Disrespect in marketing materials have also been taken down.
Turtle Beach’s website previously had a dedicated page for Dr Disrespect merchandise, but IGN reports that it’s been taken down as of this morning.
