Pick The Right Protagonist For You
There arefive (technically six) protagoniststo play as. At the start of the game, you’ll have topick one and commit to themfor the first few hours. If you’re new to the series, this can be a bit jarring. Thankfully,each story is relatively shortand they all come together to create a cohesive story.
If you don’t have a preference,start with whomever you likeand go from there. If one character stands out to you more than the others, then play as them! You’ll haveplenty of time to engage with the other characters, and if you don’t like one of them, you canstart a new game.
Scan For Events
Scanning isone of the most important thingsyou can do, as it will show youwhere to go and what can be done. One of the best things about SaGa Emerald Beyond is thatyou can choose freely, so it’s vital that you scan new areas and weigh all your options.
Scanning will reveal Visions, which you can interact with. Red ones are for battles, blue ones are for events, and green ones impact the course of the main story.
Some events are missable in a playthrough, but don’t stress too much! Make the choices that feel right to you.
Assign The Best Characters For Battle
As yourecruit more charactersacross your playthrough, you canrotate them in and out of the retinuefor almost every battle. Every character brings something new to the table, from skills to stats, so make sure to evaluate them tocreate a diverse and powerful party.
Characters have LP, which determines how often they can be in battle. Without LP, characters can’t fight. They’lllose LP when they are defeatedin combat, so keep an eye on this and rotate them around,
Complete Side Objectives
You can always rush the story if that’s what you want, but there’splenty to be donein each world. Take the time to explore, learn about the people in each world, and get comfortable. You’ll bemoving at your own pace, and it’s worth the extra time totalk with NPCsto learn about the situation in each world.
You can findunique solutions to other problemsand solve more puzzles as you play. Don’t be afraid tomove away from the main storyto pursue other avenues for some time.
Trade Items Often
When you unlock theability to trade items, it can seem odd at first. However, trading items is a great way toget rid of materials you have in abundanceand find rare ones in exchange.
Increasing your trade level is one benefit to trading items. If you haveextra equipment or weapons, you’re able to trade them for a chance at better gear or rare materials.
Complete Mr. S Trials
Unlocking Mr. S Trials allows you toset up challenges for yourselfin combat. Thesevary from easy to challenging, but all reward you withnew materials or gear.
You can continuallyswap these trials as you complete themso that you earn more rewards. If you’re looking for additional goals, these are perfect. If you’re not sure that you can complete them, justset a few that you think you can handleand play freely.
Make Choices Carefully
Yourchoices will impact your ending. Even the smallest choices can have game-changing effects.Don’t overthink every decision, but be aware that you’ll want to make consistent choices.
If you make the wrong choice, you may use the rewind option to start the conversation over!

When you finish playing as one character, it’stime to play again! Play as the same character andmake different choicesorplay as a new characterand experience a whole new story.
