Summary
Despite theNintendo 3DS and Wii U servers shutting downtwo days ago, one loneSplatoonplayer is clinging on.
“Hello, squidkids!” @Lcd101 tweeted (as reported byGamesRadar). “Another update from someone still in the Nintendo network. Almost a day after closing, I am the final Splatoon 1 player online. I’m going to hold out for as long as I can. I’m so lonely…”

It’s unclear how they’ve stayed in the game, but with everyone else locked out, all they can do is endlessly wait for players who will never join. They’ve tweeted several pictures of the lobby, all filled with slots that simply read, “Searching”. But nobody else can play, so the most @Lcd101 can do is document the map rotation.
It’s incredibly bizarre and a little eerie to see the game so devoid of activity, but @Lcd101 is clinging on for dear life. They’re refusing to turn their Wii U off, fearing that if they do, they won’t be able to get back in. Others have even chimed in with advice on how to stop the console from going into sleep mode to ensure that they can hold out for as long as possible.
Do Any Wii U And 3DS Games Still Work After Server Shutdown?
Youshouldn’tbe able to play Splatoon right now, but a couple of games are still being supported for the time being. Despite the server shutdown, you can still access Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter, but Nintendo says that they “may also end at some point in the future”.
As for third-party titles, Nintendo says that only “some” will still work online as before, but it did not divulge which games are exempt. However, you may continue to redownload purchased games from the eShop, so you won’t lose everything that you bought digitally. Nintendo stressed that this will remain possible for the “foreseeable future”.
Lastly, you may still use StreetPass as it utilises local communication, not online services. However, SpotPass will no longer work.
