Summary
CD Projekt Red recently launched a new modding tool called RedKit forThe Witcher 3which “offers a plethora of advanced features as well as full Steam Workshop integration” to make it easier for the community to develop their own quests, add characters, and expand on the map.
As reported byGames Radar, mere days later, one fan ported and remade the biggest city from the first game - Vizima.

“[This is] a fairly low-effort attempt at porting maps from the firstWitchergame via RedKit,” the modder wrote in the video’s description. “There is a LOT of room for improvement when it comes to improving the visuals of these maps. Also, some objects got a bit scuffed during the porting process.”
It’s the closest we have to a remake of the first game right now, but CDPR is actually working on such a project themselves. Just don’t expect it any time soon, sinceit’s launchingafterThe Witcher 4.

What Is Vizima?
Vizima is the capital city of Temeria and a focal point of the first game where it’s held under quarantine because of the Catriona plague. Its name is derived from the lake it lies next to, and there are two main sections - old and new Vizima.
Vizima is built on what used to be an abandoned ancient elven settlement, but now non-humans are relegated to a ghetto in the old quarter.
Much of it is locked off, but we do get to explore the temple quarter, cemetery, sewers, royal castle, and trade quarter, as well as the surrounding outskirts.
We visit a very small part of Vizima again in The Witcher 3 - the royal palace - as it has been occupied byNilfgaard emperor Emhyr var Emreishimself. But with more advanced modding tools now in the hands of the community and an official remake underway, we’ll be returning to Vizima properly in the near future.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
WHERE TO PLAY
One of the most critically acclaimed RPGs in recent history, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sees Geralt searching for Ciri of Cintra. However, he’s not the only one looking — the pair must also contend with the Wild Hunt, supernatural beings of great power. CD Projekt added two expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, and brought an enhanced version of the game to modern consoles in late 2022.
