The X&Y era features incredibly expensivePokemon TCGsets, from Primal Clash and Ancient Origins to XY Evolutions. Given their release dates, these sets are creeping closer to vintage categorization as time goes on, and there’sno telling where the Pokemon market may bein a few years.
After looking at some of the most expensive booster boxes from the Sun & Moon era, there’s no doubt that X&Y will feature several expensive sets, including a few that sell for well north of $500. These are the most expensive Pokemon TCG booster boxes in X&Y.

8Steam Siege – $373
Storming Up The Charts
Steam Siege didn’t quite take off in the same way that some of the other most valuable X&Y era booster boxes did, asthis set lagged behind others for much of its existence.Though there are some nice cards like the Gardevoir EX and other versions, Gardevoir is the only real draw of the set.
If you like Volcanion or some of the other XY Pokemon, then you’ll also find those in Steam Siege, but nothing unique sticks out about this set in either Pokemon included or design.

7Fates Collide – $492
Trainers & Eeveelutions Everywhere
Fates Collide features a fairly even blend of amazing Eeveelution art and some of themost valuable full-art Trainer cards in the Pokemon TCG. With N leading the set in value, Alakazam, Umbreon, and Shauna round out the top four chase cards – all of which eclipse the $40 mark.
Aside from the top cards, Fates Collide has a solid supporting cast, but not enough to catapult it into the top-tier of X&Y sets, as some of the best X&Y booster boxes are packed with popular Pokemon.

6Primal Clash – $568
A Legendary Group
Primal Clash is a great example of a well-rounded set that boasts a strong cast of Pokemon to collect, including multiple versions of legendary Pokemon.Groudon and Kyogre are the most desirable Pokemon to find in Primal Clash, with the set’s name alluding directly to their age-old battle.
Primal Clash perfectly encapsulates the action and desperation each legendary Pokemon feels in their intense battle, but Groudon earns the title as the most valuable card in Primal Clash. With almost a $20 difference between Groudon and Kyogre, it seems this Primal Clash has a clear winner.

5Roaring Skies – $617
And A Soaring Price
The spiritual predecessor to Sword & Shield’s iconic Evolving Skies, this booster box sets an excellent example for its successor. Whilesome of the most valuable Evolving Skies cardseclipse those found in Roaring Skies by a wide margin, both sets boast stunning Rayquaza artwork.
The X & Y designs are notoriously busy and intricate, but the fierce spirit of Mega Rayquaza shines through this card. While the artwork in both sets couldn’t be more different, Roaring Skies set the tone for any set carrying “skies” in its name, coming in with a value above $600.

4BREAKthrough – $640
Some of themost beautiful full art cards in the Pokemon TCGfeature multiple Pokemon sharing the spotlight in some seriously gorgeous scenes. This Mewtwo is the perfect example of BREAKthrough’s unusual designs that sparked a shift in future TCG generations.
While BREAK cards never quite gained the same traction, combining Magnezone, Chesnaught, Cresselia, and Mewtwo is something that could only happen in full-art designs. This set features some powerful Pokemon in intimidating poses, but there’s an even more valuable BREAK set out there.

3BREAKpoint – $755
Making Waves Near The Top
Regardless of which chase cards you prefer, the BREAK sets took a leap of faith with some of the most standout Pokemon TCG artwork of all time.Shiny Gyaradosmakes a rare appearance in this set andboasts four separate artworks to collect.
Aside from the Gyarados love, two Trainer cards – Skyla and the Delinquent – round out the top three cards in BREAKpoint. While the two most valuable X&Y sets are more typical of what you may expect in this era, the BREAK sets deserve credit for switching things up.

2XY Evolutions – $832
Starring Mega Starters
Evolutions is one of the most beloved Pokemon sets ever, as some of the best Pokemon from the original 151 appear as Mega Evolutions for the first time in the Pokemon TCG.
This generation’s gimmick, Mega Evolution, gave existing Pokemon likeCharizard, Blastoise, and Venusauranother form, making them even more powerful.

The Mega Charizard Y artwork leads the set, but a reprint of the Charizard art from the original base set sits in the second spot.XY Evolutionsboasts one of the most expensive booster boxes from the X&Y era due to itsfantastic homage to nostalgic Pokemon.
1Ancient Origins – $940
A Case Of Deja Vu
No, you’re not seeing double –the most valuable X&Y booster boxes feature two products with similar Mega Rayquaza artworkin Roaring Skies & Ancient Origins.
Rayquaza’s popularity is undeniable, only eclipsed by superstars like Charizard, Pikachu, andthe always-valuable Eeveelutions.
Though Rayqaza is the undisputed chase card,Groudon and Kyogre both appear in X&Y’s most valuable booster box set.At just shy of $950, Ancient Origins takes the tentative crown for the most expensive X&Y sets, but Phantom Forces may have something to say about thatonce there’s more sold data to observe.
