ThePokemon TCGis full of cards that represent a range of characters to celebrate, frombeautiful iterations of the best full-art Trainersto unusual choices like Smeargle. The most expensive Smeargle cards may surprise you, as this unique Pokemon boasts some excellent artwork that perfectly reflects the Pokemon’s painter motif.
Vintage Smeargle cards carry the highest value overall, with first edition holo cards commanding the highest prices. While the most valuable Smeargle card prices below reflect the raw card value, these cards become even more expensive when they’re graded.

Cards are ordered according to theirTCGplayermarket price and are subject to change.
If there aremultiple versions(ie: first edition and unlimited) of the same card, the most valuable version’s pricedetermines the card’s placement.

9Silver Tempest Trainer Gallery: Ultra Rare – $0.82
A Marvelous Modern Art
Silver Tempest features some of the most valuable Trainer Gallery cards in Sword & Shield. While this Smeargle doesn’t makethe most expensive cards in Silver Tempest, it’s stillone of the best Smeargle Pokemon TCG cards. The Trainer Gallery is known for bright art that pops, and this Smeargle card embodies those standards perfectly.
Considering how cheap this card is, it’s a must-own for Smeargle collectors, as you won’t find many valuable full-art cards with Smeargle featured so prominently.

8Wizards Of The Coast (WOTC) Promo – $3.95
A Peak Promo Pokemon
Promo cards can range in value depending on their rarity, Pokemon, artwork, and condition, much like this WOTC-era Smeargle promo.
This Black Star promo was released in 2001via the Pokemon League, the competitive Pokemon TCG circuit.

Condition is paramount on all vintage cards, including this card, which jumps over tenfold in value when graded in perfect condition. A raw copy can be had for just a few dollars, making this card another surprisingly affordable Smeargle.
7Undaunted: Rare – $6.60 (Reverse)
Holo Copy – $6.24
This Smeargle from Undaunted features the HeartGold & SoulSilver-era’s trademark style depicting a scene with two Smeargle inspecting a wall.Cards that tell a storywith such a small amount of space are often standouts in the Pokemon TCG, and this card’s solid value reflects decent demand.
While the Reverse Holo is far below its former highs that approached $20, this Smeargle’s decline might only be temporary. Considering its rarity and the complexity of the scene, this one could be worth keeping an eye on.

6Dragon Frontiers: Uncommon – $6.64 (Reverse)
Normal Copy – $0.70
Dragon Frontiersis one ofthe most valuable sets from the EX era,and Smeargle boasts one of its coolest depictions in this action-packed artwork. The Reverse Holo commands almost ten times the value of a normal copy, and the gap seems like it could get even wider.
The Reverse Holoonce pushed closer to $10 but has lost a significant portion of its value. However, the value of this card can’t change the fact that the artwork makes Smeargle seem much more fierce than we’ve seen in other art.

5Call Of Legends: Holo Rare – $7.69 (Reverse)
Holo Copy – $5.62
Another HeartGold & SoulSilver gem, Call of Legends brings us another pair of Smeargle, this time mid-action, as the one to the right slings paint off its tail. The Reverse and Holo copies of this card are much closer in value than the prior entry, as it’s sometimes a matter of preference that determines the different values of each.
Non-holo copies are also significantly less desirable than any form of Holo card.

This Rare bucks the downward trend among some of the most expensive Smeargle cards, as this Call of Legends copy has maintained an extremely steady value.
4Aquapolis: Common – $8.69 (Reverse)
Normal Copy – $2.70
Aquapolis is one ofthe most expensive Pokemon TCG sets of all time, featuring a star-studded cast and some of the best vintage artwork ever. This Smeargle lounging under a tree could be hung in a museum without the card information and borders and probably fit right in.
As for its value, the Reverse copy is unsurprisingly more expensive, but even the normal common version will cost you a few dollars. When a common costs more than a Trainer Gallery artwork, it must be special – that’s the Aquapolis difference.

3Unseen Forces: Uncommon – $8.99 (Reverse)
Normal Copy – $0.80
The Unseen Forces Smeargle takes the cake for the most cartoonish Smeargle on the list, with a flat, 2D style with plenty of charm. While realism or detail aren’t of particular concern, the Reverse Holo is the real deal, despite dipping into the single digits.
The Unseen ForcesReverse Holo Smeargle once hovered around $16,so it has seen brighter days but still retains a spot among the most expensive Smeargle cards on the market. If you like the unique art style, then this Smeargle card hasn’t been at a better price to buy in quite some time.

2Neo Discovery: Rare – $9.74 (First Edition)
Unlimited Copy – $5.32
This Neo Discovery Smeargle has to settle for second place among the best Smeargle cards of all time andeven loses out to its twin from the same set. While the non-holo Rare Smeargle still boasts notably high prices in both editions, it can’t compare to the version to come.
Unfortunately for Smeargle, both editions have fallen slowly over time, with the first edition copy tumbling below its previous $11 mark. While various market factors are at play, the best Smeargle card to come stands out as the clear attention-grabber.
1Neo Discovery: Holo Rare – $79.02 (First Edition)
Unlimited Copy – $27.02
Neo Discovery features a host of valuable cardsworth collecting and Smeargle boasts the beautiful cosmic holo pattern that makes the most valuable cards from this era stand out. There’s plenty of room to get a swirl or blotch holo pattern to the right of Smeargle, which would be fitting for the painter Pokemon.
This card mainly trades in the $70–90 range, fluctuating over time and on a case-by-case basis, given the unique holo possibilities. This is the most valuable Smeargle card you can get, and with good reason, given the fantastic art and rarity.
