Summary

MultiVersusdeveloper Player First Games has finally revealed the game’s first new character since Marvin the Martian back in 2022, as the completion of a MultiVersus ARG has revealed that Batman’s arch-enemy The Joker is joining the roster.

We’ve all been waiting a very long time for MultiVersus to make its grand returnafter itsless-than-grand exit last year, but it’s fair to say thatthe game’s re-reveal back in March wasn’t as exciting as we all hoped. While thenew stages look great and the promised gameplay reveals are exciting, the one thing we all wanted to see was new characters.

While we did get some hints about what new fighters might make their way to MultiVersus when it relaunches at the end of May, Player First Games has been surprisingly quiet since then and has only teased the new characters. Excitement over potential new additions has been building ever since, and threatened to boil over withthe release of a fun MultiVersus ARG on the game’s official Discord serverthat players were convinced was teasing The Joker, a character that’s been highly rumored for a while.

The Joker Is Finally Heading To MultiVersus

Thankfully, fans were bang on the money, and shortly after the final clue of the ARG was solved, Player First dropped a trailer and a tonne of info about The Joker, includingin-game screenshots, gameplay clips, and more. From this info, we can glean that The Joker will be a Mage character, which feels fitting for a character that always has a trick or two up his sleeve.

From theseshort gameplay clips, we also get a look at some of The Joker’s moves, his Ring Out animation, and confirmation that he’ll have an announcer voice like most of the game’s current roster. We also get confirmation that The Joker in MultiVersus isbeing voiced by Mark Hamill, which isn’t too surprising given that Batman is voiced by Kevin Conroy and the two enjoyed working alongside each other.

Player First didn’t reveal a release date for The Joker, but we can safely assume that he’ll be part of the roster when MultiVersus launches again on May 28. We have almost three weeks to wait until then though, and who knows what else Player First could have up in its locker before the big day arrives?
