The First Descendant Is Launching On May 30, 2025

The First Descendant is a looter shooter which will be free-to-play when it launches next month. It will feature PvE co-op multiplayer. We’ll have to wait and see if it has what it takes to stand out from the crowd in this genre, but being free to pick and play will certainly help its chances.

It already had a successful open beta period last year, but this will make the game available once more, and to a wider audience. Being a live service, we can expect ongoing support fromNexontoo, although we’ll have to wait and see what it has planned when the game fully launches next month.

Summer Game Fest was an incredibly varied showcase this year. Right before The First Descendant confirmed its release date in this slick cinematic trailer, we were treated toKiller Bean - a very different shooter.

The First Descendant is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It was previously confirmed to support crossplay and cross-save across PC and console, much like other live services in the genre. It was said that this will be a feature from launch too, so we should be able to team up with whoever we want come July 2, without having to worry about what platform everyone else is playing on.
