Summary

The Crew Unlimited has reached a massive milestone in their mission to make the game playable offline, having now made the entire open world explorable once again.

Every time a game is ever delisted, taken offline, or otherwise abandoned by its developers, chances are you’ll find a small army of passionate fans that take the mantle and try to keep the lights on. The Crew Unlimited is one such group, having made it their mission to get the game playable once again afterUbisoftshut down the servers earlier this year and beganrevoking the title from Ubisoft Connect accounts. Being an online-only game, the servers shutting down was a death sentence for the title, butThe Crew Unlimited is doing its best to restore the title.

Earlier this year, the fans at The Crew Unlimited made a breakthrough and managed to get into the game’s main menu, and progress has been pretty rapid since then. Announced earlier todayin a new YouTube video, yet another massive milestone has been reached, as The Crew Unlimited has now made the game’s open world explorable for the first time after the shutdown, demonstrating their achievement with a brief road trip.

The Crew Fans Have Made The Open World Explorable Again

You can check out the road trip video above, which has been uploaded to Whammy4’s YouTube channel, which is actually the first piece of new gameplay we’ve seen of The Crew since its shutdown in March. It’s around fifteen minutes long and features the player driving from Detroit to Black Hills, passing through various locations such as Michigan State Forests, Chicago, and Dairy Land.

Some more details about the project havealso been shared on ResetEra, including the reveal that The Crew Unlimited has fully rewritten the game’s Smart Loot system that will work in tandem with your car’s level and drop cosmetic items if your car happens to be max level. The Crew Unlimited also almost has the game’s HQ working, which will allow players to customize existing cars and even buy new ones.

It’s an impressive amount of work and is coming along so quickly considering all that the team could access just a couple of months ago was the main menu. Hopefully, The Crew Unlimited will keep soldiering on with their project and resurrect The Crew back from the dead.
