Summary
Unlocking weapons inXDefianttakes time, and it requires you to sink plenty of hours into the game while playing with a specific type of gun. That means that if you want to earn the best weapons as early as possible, you will want to know what to farm.
Of course, it will all come down to personal preference since what helps you win the most in XDefiant is practice. Still, knowing what weapons to focus on will help you achieve victory more often, letting you deck out your build however you see fit, no matter if you prefer sniping from afar or getting up close and personal.

7Double Barrel Shotgun
Two Shots, But You Only Need One
When wielding a Shotgun, you know that you will be favored in close-quarters combat but be shredded by longer-ranged weapons, so it isn’t a type of weapon that is often picked. Yet the power these guns wield is great, and the Double Barrel Shotgun lets you even pick off enemies from further away than usual.
As you would expect from a Double Barrel Shotgun, it only holds two shells, so you need to be careful when facing multiple enemies. It is best to identify a high-priority target, so you know your shells are put to good use when blasting away.

Phantoms are a great faction to use with Shotguns in general since your higher defense can let you get into the right range to use the weapon well. The Blitz Shield, in particular, can be of use if you’re just trying to catch someone since you can drop it quickly and empty your shells on them.
6P90
The Mobile SMG
If you’re looking for more all-around weapons that serve multiple ranges, Rifles and SMGs can help you on multiple ranges. SMGs, in particular, might not have the longest range, but they are so light that they let you get into position faster than other weapons.
The P90 lets you be constantly on the move, with a considerable magazine on top of that. This lets you flank enemies and react to every encounter, moving to the next pressure point when needed in modes like Domination and Occupy.

However, most SMGs have some bounce, and it is particularly noticeable in the P90, so you’ll need to consider that when aiming with this weapon. The Echelon faction does great with the P90, particularly when cloaked with their Digital Ghillie Suit.
5ACR 6.8
All Around Good Rifle
Rifles tend to dominatemost XDefiant mapssince they are the most adaptable to every situation. While the idea is for you to change loadouts as the game progresses, many players prefer to stick to one tool and perfect it.
If you’re looking for an Assault Rifle that is worth mastering, the ACR 6.8 is worth your time. It is considerably harder to master than other classic options like the AK-47 or the M16A4, but the damage output more than makes up for it, letting you two-shot most opponents.

The main thing to consider with this weapon is the recoil since you’ll have to adjust for it when firing bursts. While you may modify the weapon to counter this, you will end up with a significant drop in damage, so it is best to play around the recoil than to completely negate it.
4MK 20 SSR
For Masters Of Aiming
We all have our own style when it comes to shooter games, and some people prefer sniping from afar beyond all other strategies. While there are Sniper Rifles in XDefiant, they are hard to use effectively since most maps haveplenty of ways to counter snipers, so for long-range enthusiasts, the Marksman Rifles are the way to go.
Currently, there are only two options when it comes to Marksman Rifles: the SVD and the MK 20 SSR, but the MK 20 is the superior option. It has a steadier aim while providing some options when enemies are closer, although remember to finish up low-health enemies with the Pistol instead of the slow-firing MK 20.

Arena maps make all Marksman Rifles complicated to use, but linear maps offer better chances for these weapons to shine. When playing Escort or Zone Control, get your MK 20 SSR ready since knowing where your enemies can come from is the ideal scenario for any would-be sniper.
3MDR
Easy To Get Rifle
If you want a good weapon that is easily obtained by everyone, the MDR is waiting for you as a free reward from the battle pass. This means that you’re able to experiment with any other firearms and, just by playing for a couple of hours, you’ll unlock a fairly decent Assault Rifle.
Yet that availability isn’t the only thing going for this weapon, since it also works as a hybrid between an Assault Rifle and an SMG (although you can find it only in the Assault section in-game). This makes it the most adaptable weapon of them all, being outclassed only by sniper rifles and shotguns in their respective fields.

2MP7
The Best SMG
While other SMG or similar weapons are better at adapting to different combat scenarios, the MP7 is the ideal firearm when you’re planning to flank your opponents. And due to how the maps are designed in XDefiant, flanking tends to bethe best strategy.
This is why you’ll most often see factions like the Echelon wielding this since they can move quietly behind enemy lines and shred opponents away. Shotguns can technically do this too, but you need to either be closer or aim more carefully to make each shell count.

1AK-47
Classics Never Die
If SMGs are the ideal weapons for flanking opponents, Assault Rifles are the ideal weapons for everything else in the game. Their long-to-mid-range capabilities make them ideal weapons to focus on, and the AK-47 is the most reliable of the bunch.
While all Assault Rifles can improve with the different modifications you can put on them, the AK-47 starts as a very solid weapon from the get-go. Having such a good base makes it naturally the best Assault Rifle overall and, with that, the best weapon to focus on in XDefiant.
