There are dozens of unique and varied Weapon Skills to choose from the ten vocations inDragon’s Dogma 2. Whether you prefer the melee combat of Warriors or you’d rather stay at a distance with Magick spells as a Sorcerer, there are powerful Weapon Skills for any playstyle.

However, allvocations are not created equally, and some of the best vocations in DD2 hold a distinct advantage in the quality of their Weapon Skills. If you’re a Mage, Thief, or Magick Archer, you’ll be feasting on the various enemies in Battahl and Vermund.

The Boltchain Stake skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Vocation

Boltchain Stake

Looses astake imbued with magickal lightning, piercing hostile targets or the ground. If the stakes land near each other, crackling bolts spark between them, dealing damage to foes.

Magick Archer

Boltchain Stake is a deceptively powerful Magick Archer Weapon Skill, allowing you to stick enemies (and the environment) with arrows that chain Lightning energy between each other. You fire three arrows in a spread, then when they land, they willconnect, damaging enemies while creating a lightning web.

This skill can be used to lock down areas and stagger larger foes.

The High Palladium skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

While the damage is far from impressive against the strongest foes, the ability tohit multiple enemies with Lightningcan help stun more easily. Continue to fire volleys at large foes, and they’ll be shocked multiple times, allowing yourpawns to swoop in and capitalize on the opening.

High Palladium

Conjures aclusterof magickal energythat blocks up to three attacksfrom targets. The clusters aregranted to nearby allieswhen cast.

Mage

High Palladium is one of the best defensive Weapon Skillsin Dragon’s Dogma 2, serving asa supportive Mage’s most important spellwhen the battle begins. The magickal shields come in clutch when you’re about to take a major hit from an ogre.

While the skill itself doesn’t deal damage, this defensive Weapon Skill is an excellent means of staying on the offensive. The magickal shield can withstand up to three hits, giving you plenty of wiggle room to dive into a crowd and cut through their numbers without a scratch.

The Sagittate Downpour skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Sagittate Downpour

Conjures and firesa multitude of magickalarrows. Arrows can be concentrated on a single target or a single point on a target.

The Sagittate Downpour is abread-and-butter damage option against standard rank-and-file enemies, like Saurians and Goblins, eviscerating them instantly. The volley of arrows can deplete an entire HP bar if they all connect, and firing this attack at larger enemies usually lands every arrow.

The Argent Succor skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Evenagainst powerful foes like Drakes, you may use the Downpour to fire several shots directly at their weak point. This Weapon Skill is best used against larger enemies when they’re vulnerable, as the numerous arrows stack damage quickly against vulnerable targets.

Argent Succor

Fully and instantaneouslyrecovers the Health of the caster or of a single ally. Does not recover the loss gauge.

Dealing heaps of damage with your Weapon Skills is nice, but staying alive during challenging encounters is even more important, especially in the Unmoored World.Argent Succor is the best healing spell in Dragon’s Dogma 2, giving the Mage full control over their party’s well-being.

The Mountain Breaker skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

You cancommand a Pawn to heal you with Argent Succorwhen you are weak by selecting the “Help” command.

This spell completely negates the need for most curatives in your backpack, giving the additional benefit of less weight to carry around while using a Mage. Once you get used to the efficiency of saving gold on items (and time in the menu),Argent Succor becomes a must-have Weapon Skill.

The High Hagol skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Mountain Breaker

Thrusts blade upward, delivering a solid blow that canknock targets off balance or render them unconscious. Can be charged prior to unleashing.

Warrior

Mountain Breaker, the upgraded version of Knoll Breaker, is one of the biggest benefits of using thebest Warrior build in DD2. Many of DD2’s Weapon Skills are powerful, butMountain Breakermakes you feel like a true Arisen, giving you the power toknock massive monsters over.

The most satisfying use of Mountain Breaker issending an ogre tumbling down a cliff;you have to try it.

The Skull Splitter skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Combining this Weapon Skill with Heavenward Sunder or Windstorm Slash will allow you to follow up the initial stagger with incredible damage. Sometimes, you may need to use Mountain Breaker twice to fully knock an enemy over, so be prepared to follow up.

High Hagol

Summons a bone-chilling blizzardin the immediate vicinity that damages any targets it touches and inflicts them withfrostbite.

Sorcerer

High Hagol is among the most visually stunning Weapon Skills Dragon’s Dogma 2 has to offer and is one of the best Sorcerer skills to use. The blizzard’sfrostbite slows the enemiescaught in it until they’re completely frozen and vulnerable to attacks.

In addition to the application of the frostbite debilitation, the blizzard’s swirling winds do some solid damage in a large area.Enemies caught in the storm’s center are as good as defeated, as they likely won’t withstand the Frost damage, let alone the rest of your attacks.

The Mirour Shelde skill in the menu of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Skull Splitter

Leaps up, then dives through the air whilespinning, blades extended. More powerful when performed from high places. Also employable mid-air.

Thief

Skull Splitter’s sheer damage makes itone of the best DPS Weapon Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as the ticks of damage from your spinning blades add up quickly. This potent spinning attack will delete ogres, Drakes, Minotaurs, and any other enemy you encounter.

If you’re a Warfarer, look no further than this Weapon Skill as your primary DPS option. Whether Thief or Warfarer, you must include Skull Splitter to speedrun battles like never before. While you won’t one-shot foes, a few attacks will spell doom for unarmored enemies.

Mirour Shelde

Erects a magickal barrier around the user and any allies within range. Each barrier only lasts for a very short span of time, butnullifies all manner of attacks for the duration.

Mystic Spearhand

Yes, you read that correctly –Mirour Shelde offers you complete invincibilityfor a short amount of time (about five seconds). Since this has no cooldown, you can endlessly spam this Weapon Skill to remain invulnerable, so long as you have the Stamina to cast it.

This Weapon Skill stands unrivaled, though High Palladium offers a similar effect, but with a limit on the number of attacks.

Given Mirour Shelde’s duration and considering the rate at which Stamina refills, you can feasibly remain invincible through entire fights, but you won’t be able to attack often, or else you’ll lose too much stamina to keep your invincibility going.
