What stands out the most aboutHarvest Hunt,in your opinion? The Devourer could be one of the best answers to this. It’s hard not to wonder about the story of this terrifying entity roaming the village. Why does it come back every night, even after you banish it? Whatever the answer may be, all you have to do is collect Ambrosia for your village and survive against the Devourer.
So, what can increase your chances of survival? One of them are the Village Fortification cards, which help shape the village more in your favor. If you’re curious about the best Village Fortification cards, you’re in the right place.

Tool Bargain
Tool Bargain is honestly one of the best Village Fortification cards. As you know, the tools you choose each night are not free;each selected tool reduces your starting Vigor. Some tools, like the Hatchet, are quite expensive and can leave you with very little Vigor, making you an easy target for the Devourer.
With Tool Bargain, you onlyneed to pay half the Vigor cost for the tools you choose. This allows you to take expensive tools like the Grave Shovel, Proxy Poppet, or Hatchet without hesitation.

Good Portent
The Good Portent card significantlyincreases your chances of avoiding Calamity Whispers each night. As you know, during the Whispers phase every night, you reveal three modifiers. Among these, the red Calamity Whisper cards aredirect disadvantages, and some can be quite bothersome.
For example, effects like the Devourer dealing more damage to you or no Ambrosias being available that night candeeply disrupt your strategy. Thanks to the effect of the Good Portent card, you will likely avoid these, allowing you to focus solely on the Devourer’s mutation and the beneficial card on the left among the Whisper cards.

Boleomancy
The Boleomancy card allows you tochange the Whispers cards once per night, drawing a new set. This enables you to potentiallyshift unfavorable situations to your advantage, making conditions easier for you.
For instance, if you draw a Calamity card like Poisoned Cropfields, which could be disastrous for you since you often hide in Cropfields, you can get rid of such annoying cards with Boleomancy. Keep in mind that this cardwill not change the Devourer’s mutationcard.

If you have avoided a calamity with the Good Portent card, using Boleomancy afterward will result in thenew calamity card being avoided as well. This means the only changed card will be the one on the left, which is the beneficial card for you.
Fragment Bargain
The Fragment Bargain cardrandomizes the number of Fragments required to banish the Devourereach night, ranging from one to three. This means approximately 66 percent of the time, you will only need to take one or two Fragments to the Effigy to banish it.
Banishing the Devourer is undoubtedly a lengthy and risky endeavor. You need to find a weapon, damage it with the weapon you find, then hide. On top of that, you need to pick up the Fragment you dropped and take it to the Effigy. Evenshortening these inherently long actions makes this card valuable.

Chosen Entry
Each night during the tool acquisition phase, Chosen Entryallows you to select a starting location on the map.Normally, as you know, your starting location is randomly chosen each night, which can sometimesplace you far from the tools you’ve placed on the map.
With Chosen Entry, you’re able to gain a starting advantage by beginning near your most valuable tools. For example, after selecting the Grave Shovel, start next to the church. Then, quickly use the Grave Shovel, allowing you to resurrect once again if you die that night.

Immortality
The Immortality card allows you toheal by collecting Ambrosias.Sometimes, the Devourer can become so powerful that you might forget your main objective is to collect Ambrosias. In such cases, achieving the main objective while also healing becomes crucial.
Additionally, since not all Ambrosias are of equal value, theamount of healing provided by this card is the same as the Ambrosia you collect. Some Ambrosias may have a value of three, while others may have a value of nine, so the healing effect will be proportional to this value.

Hideout
The Hideout card addscoffin-shaped structures within the village where you may hide.Additionally, when you enter them for the first time, your Vigor is completely healedand restored to its maximum. These two effects provide you with significant advantages.
While cornfields may offer good hiding options, they are not entirely safe, and calamity cards like Poisoned Cornfields can put you in a difficult situation. Moreover, knowing that Hideouts will fully heal you can be reassuring when Rations, which provide healing, are scarce.

Hideout hasexcellent synergy with the Proxy Poppet tool.Proxy Poppet damages the Devourer wherever it is but reduces your Vigor to 10. After using it, entering a Hideout neutralizes this effect.
Card Shuffle
The Card Shuffle allows you todraw a new Warden Strength and Village Fortification set once per night.
This effect applies separately to both Warden Strength and Village Fortification cards.
With this card, you caneasily find cards that synergize with your familiar tools or other cards you possess, or you can draw more effective cards in place of drawing unfavorable ones. The effectiveness of the Card Shuffle increases the earlier you acquire it. Choosing this card on the last nights of your current harvest season isnot a very effective move.
