Summary
To be blunt, the Two Fingers Incantations are not the premier spellcasting options inElden Ring. The spell type includes some of the more minor defensive buffs, a fewhealing options, and multiple stealth-focused Incantations most players forgot about the moment they got them.
But while the spell list is mostly duds, some are more useful than you might expect, and there are a few gems that really shine through as genuinely good Incantations. Let’s look through the list and see if we can find these diamonds in the rough.

Effect
Instantly restore 4.2 HP (half for allies) x Faith Incantation Scaling.
If you don’t pick up Lord’s Heal before killingMaliketh, it will disappear.

In a technical sense, Lord’s Heal represents an improvement over the cheaper burst healing spells, for the simple reason that it restores more HP than they do. However, it is a staggeringly inefficient Incantation. It only costs ten less FP than the best burst healer, Erdtree Heal, and is far less effective.
Still, even if the cost is absurd, Lord’s Heal does still have a useful effect, which is more than can be said for some of the Two Fingers Incantations that couldn’t even make this list. You can buy it from Prophet Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows after giving them the Two Fingers' Prayerbook, which can be found in Leyndell’s Fortified Manor.

Create a shockwave that knocks away enemies.
Rejection is an extremely situational Incantation. It doesn’t deal any damage, which makes it useless against most bosses. However, while traveling between boss fights, you’ll find a lot of places where small enemies (including other players) are standing next to conveniently-sized cliffs.
In those cases, using Rejection to launch them to their deaths is both effective and highly entertaining. And since you can buy it with no restrictions from Brother Corhyn at the extremely low price of 1,500 Runes, there’s really no reason not to pick it up and try it out.

Create darkness that conceals the caster.
Initially a spell that seems useless, Darkness has more utility than most players give it credit for. Using it on an enemy gives you a second chance to backstab them or opens them up for one of your big attacks. That’s going to be overkill against most opponents, but it can make killing some tougher foes (such as the many powerful knights roaming the Lands Between) a much simpler task.
And while Darkness doesn’t blind them, concealing your actions can really mess with players in PvP. Sadly, it doesn’t work on most bosses, but the above uses make it worth considering. you may buy the Incantation after finding the Assassin’s Prayerbook behind several Imp Statue Seals in the Roundtable Hold and giving it to Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows.

Instantly restore 2.3 HP (half for allies) x Faith Incantation Scaling.

The basic Heal Incantation isn’t particularly impressive, but it is serviceable enough for a starting spell. Prophets get it automatically, so they’ll be using it regardless, and any other starting class can buy it from Prophet Corhyn for just 1,500 Runes.
There are many other healing spells in the Lands Between (including one on this list) that will give you more HP at a better rate. For those first few levels, though, it is the best you’ll get, and you won’t be too disappointed with its performance.

10
Increase Lightning damage negation by 35 percent (10 percent in PvP).
Lightning Fortification’s major selling point is that you don’t get the upgraded version of it, Golden Lightning Fortification, until Crumbling Farum Azula. Now, that is where most of the dangerous Lightning-based enemies reside, so it comes online right when most players will need it.
That said, there are a few electric enemies you might want to fight before then, likeLansseax or maybe even Lichdragon Fortissaxif you commit hard to Fia’s questline. In both cases, Lightning Fortification could save your life, and you may buy it from Brother Corhyn relatively early, after he moves to Altus Plateau.
Increase Fire damage negation by 35 percent (10 percent in PvP).
Fire is an extremely common damage type in the Lands Between, so being able to protect yourself from it has a lot of value. And while Flame Fortification isn’t the best spell in Elden Ring for that purpose, if you want the improved version of this Incantation, Flame, Protect Me, you’ll need to delve into the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Meanwhile, you may buy Flame Fortification from Brother Corhyn as soon as you reach the Roundtable Hold. As a result, for most of the game, it will be your best option for making yourself fireproof.
Increase Magic damage negation by 35 percent (10 percent in PvP).
Like the other minor Fortification spells on this list, Magic Fortification has an improved variant you may find later in the game. However, while it gets outclassed by Barrier of Gold once you get to Altus Plateau, most players will want to go through Raya Lucaria before then. And the Academy is the most significant concentration of Magic Damage in the entire game.
Magic Fortification will make navigating the endless hail of blue magic significantly easier, and you don’t need to go out of your way to get it. You can buy the Incantation from Brother Corhyn from your first meeting with him at the Roundtable Hold.
Increase Holy damage negation by 35 percent (10 percent in PvP).
Many of your main enemies in Elden Ring are servants of the Golden Order, so it’s no surprise that you run into Holy damage a great deal. Now, if you want the best protection against the damage type, there is a much better version of this spell that appears later on this list.
Unfortunately, you don’t get it until much further into the game; you essentially need to have reached the final string of bosses. So until you reach that point, Divine Fortification will have to suffice. It’s dropped by a Teardrop Scarab near the Tombsward Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula.

45
Instantly restore 3.64 HP (2.07 for allies) x Faith Incantation Scaling.
Great Heal is not the strongest healing Incantation in the game, but it does represent a significant upgrade over the basic Heal spell in both the amount healed and the FP efficiency. Perhaps more importantly, the burst healing Incantations that come after it have some significant problems.
Lord’s Heal is a frustratingly small upgrade for the cost increase, and the further step up after that is prohibitively expensive in terms of both Faith and FP costs. Meanwhile, Great Heal is a relatively cheap option that punches above its weight, and you can buy it from Brother Corhyn as soon as he moves to Altus Plateau.
27
30
Increase Holy damage negation by 60 percent (20 percent in PvP) for yourself and nearby allies.
Elden Ring has a lot of bosses that deal Holy Damage, including the final boss of the game, so having strong defenses against the Damage Type can be extremely beneficial. Reducing it by 60 percent is a massive boon, one that can trivialize some particularly nasty boss abilities, and the 20 percent it gets you in PvP isn’t bad either if you happen to run into someone using Holy spells.
The only trouble with Lord’s Divine Fortification is how late you get it. You can acquire the Incantation either by defeating Malenia then telling Gideon about it, or by killing Maliketh then buying it from the Twin Maiden Husks. And since Maliketh deals Holy damage and Malenia doesn’t, it makes significantly more sense to kill her first if you can manage it. Either way, despite its late arrival, the Incantation is still useful for the last few bosses and future New Game cycles.
