Summary
There are some remarkable things you can do with Redstone inMinecraft. Whether it’suseful machines and contraptions that make your life easier, or experiments with Sculk Sensors that effectively allow you tosend and receive Redstone signals through the air, the creative and functional applications are nearly limitless.
But what if you’re just a person that likes to be silly, and doesn’t have the time, want, or drive to become a Redstone god? If you’re looking for a quick bit of Redstone-related fun, want to prank your friends online, antagonize mobs, or get some inspiration, enjoy exploring these silly Redstone machines.

8You Can’t Always Trust A Pressure Plate
Disappoint Your Friends
It’s likely that you, or at least someone you know, plops pressure plates before and after doors to a home or base, since it’s so convenient for quick and fluid movement between walls and other barriers. With this silly and incredibly simple redstone machine, you can destroy someone’s trust in pressure plates.
Just put a regular piston underneath a pressure plate, and the redstone signal sent through the plate will push the block upwards, break the pressure plate, leave the door unopened, and most importantly, create confusion.
7It’s Different When They Fire Back
Maybe Your Dodge Skills Will Improve
It’s one thing to get comfortable with a bow and consistently hit targets with high accuracy, but it’s another thing altogether when arrows start flying back at you. With this simple Redstone machine, every arrow that hits the target sends four arrows back at you with Dispenser blocks.
To take it a step further, you could add in some minecarts and rails, or brush up on your strafing and dodging skills while firing a bow. For a more dynamic experience, you could figure out a way to stagger when the arrows are fired back at you, with Repeaters or another mechanism.
6Forced Bouncy Castle
YouWillHave Fun
Instead of locking up dozens of villagers in a dystopian trading hub, you could antagonize this friendly, helpless mob in a different way; by throwing them into a slime block and piston-based bounce pit that jumbles and pushes them around constantly.
While the example images above are small in scope, you could make it much larger and more silly by adding more pistons underneath the slime blocks, or playing with different Redstone clocks to add in more chaos. Congratulations, you made a machine where “fun” is the only option.
5Nighttime Defense System
Security With A Bunch Of Extra Steps
While this Redstone device is silly, at least from a practical angle, since the more straightforward and simple way to defend your property at night is a nice, tall, surrounding wall, or a respectable outline of wood fences.
The positive part about this defense mechanism, however, is that you’ll feel really cool every time you activate this. Plus, it’ll provide a bit of extra light around your base at night, since there’d be Redstone strewn about everywhere. Hopefully you like the color red, or at the very least, don’t mind it.
4Repeating Dispenser
If It Ain’t Broke… Well, This Could Be Better, Actually
There are plenty of ways to create a dispenser that fires repeatedly and automatically, but you’re not here for efficiency, are you? That’s the spirit, now go ahead and grab some powered rail, Redstone blocks, a Dispenser, some Fire Charges, blocks, and a minecart.
By creating a loop where the minecart falls back onto a powered rail, you may plop a Detector rail on top of a Dispenser, and every time the minecart makes a loop, you’ll fire a Fire Charge, or whatever projectile you prefer, in the direction it’s facing.
3Public Transport Courtesy System
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
If you’re playing on a server with friends, and have a connected rail system that relies on people sharing minecarts, you can use this silly, albeit incredibly annoying, Note Block based Redstone alarm system that will go off when someone breaks or steals a minecart.
Although, the two most obvious downsides of this design are, one, that your friends will get so annoyed that they break the Redstone circuit or Note block, or two, the alarm will go off indefinitely when someone rides the cart to a different destination.
2Minecart Archery Minigame
Are You Feeling Dizzy Yet?
Although it’d be more tolerable and more exciting if you made this design larger, more varied, and allowed for some kind of feedback when you hit the target with an arrow, like a Dispenser shooting a firework into the air, that takes away the silly factor.
If anything, this is a simple Redstone minigame of sorts that appears legitimate at first. But at the end of the day, all it’d really do is make you or your friends dizzy, or develop digital motion sickness. Ultimately, what you do with this is up to you.
Spending Resources Never Bothered You Anyway
Are you tired of harvesting all your sugarcane by hand? Do you have heaps of extra Iron, Redstone, and other resources just sitting, gathering dust in chests around your house or base? Perhaps you’d like to consider a “Mad Max” way of harvesting sugarcane.
By using multiple rail lines and minecarts, you may send them flying into a row of sugarcane, water, and detector rails to send a Redstone signal to a row of pistons to gather this delicious and potion-friendly automatically. Just… keep in mind you will have to gather the minecarts every harvest.
