Path of Exile’sNecropolis season introduced a big rework to Scarabs by adding hundreds of unique Scarabs and completely removing Sextants from the game. With all these selections of Scarabs, there will always be comparisons as to which are the best ones for currency farming.
This topic is highly subjective because several factors can change everything in one day, whether through a price change or a new popular build. Regardless, the best Scarabs will always have a game-changing effect by maximizing your farming strategies, giving them more than what you paid for.
Reliquary Scarab Of Vision
The Reliquary Scarab of Vision forces the Nameless Seer to spawn on your map, which gives you a chance to find some of the best unique items in the game. While the drop rate of these uniques is still low, it is a lot better than most methods at finding tier zero uniques.
Tier zero uniques are unique items that have one of the lowest chances of dropping. Not all tier zero uniques are great, but it does include the Mageblood and Headhunter.
The Reliquary Scarab of Vision is great becauseyou don’t need any combinations of Scarabs or passive atlas builds to use it efficiently. You just place the Scarab in your map device and look for the Nameless Seer.
While the Scarab is great on its own,the problem lies in its price. Items involving some randomness, where you can directly get the best items in the game, will always be costly after the first month of a league.
Divination Scarabs
Divination Scarabs are always involved in one of the most lucrative farming methods in any given season or league. There are several high-value Divination cards like the Apothecary and the Doctor. Buffing the drop rates of these cards will always be worth it, assuming you pair the Divination Scarabs with the proper atlas passive tree and other Scarabs.
The Divination Scarab and the Divination Scarab of Completionpaired with some Ambush Scarabs and a passive atlas tree that buffs Strongboxesis a highly lucrative farming strategy. However, the price for running this strategy is extremely high.
If you don’t have enough currencyto purchase these Scarabs in bulk, it would be best tostay awayfrom this farming method. There are times when you will start losing currency while running maps, but it all depends on that one drop of an Apothecary to change things around.
Essence Scarab Of Calcification
The Essence Scarab of Calcificationimprisons all the rare monsters in the map, putting random Essences for you to farm. You are roughly looking at around15-20 Essences per map with just this Scarab alone, along with the appropriate atlas passive tree dedicated to Essences.
The number of Essence goes even higher if you canpair a Scarab of Adversaries to your map runs. However, these runs will be extremely dangerous, andthe strategy should favorbuilds that have strong single-target DPS. The more Essences a rare monster has, the stronger they are. Each of these Essences is essentially a buff for them.
Once you have stockpiled Essences in your stash, you shouldsell them in bulk to gain some extra currency from players who are crafting. Crafters generally want to do one trade to buy hundreds of Essences, so they can save some time by avoiding multiple trades.
Horned Scarab Of Bloodlines
The Horned Scarab of Bloodlinesturns all Monster Packs in the area to be at least magic packs. This means that there will be no normal or “white” monsters, but there could still be rare or “yellow” monsters in the map.
By increasing the rarity of the monsters,you are indirectly boosting the drop rates of everything that could possibly drop in your specific map. The Scarab is very versatile, and you’re able to use it with any farming strategy.
Since the Scarab is a bit rare and so versatile, the price could potentially skyrocket. If it does, it isn’t worth it.
Ambush Scarab Of Discernment
Ambush Scarabs of Discernmentincreases the chances of Strongboxes being of the higher or rare variety. In short, a regular Strongbox has a chance of turning into a Diviner’s Strongbox or other rare types.
If you use at least four types of Ambush Scarab on your runs,you should expect to open roughly 40-50 Strongboxes in a single map. The number is extremely high because you also have the chance ofopening a single Strongbox multiple timesbecause of the Ambush Scarab of Hidden Compartments and the Secret Compartments notable atlas passive skill.
You can even use the Ambush crafting option in your map device to add even more Strongboxes. While these Strongboxes might be your best way of attaining loot with the strategy, you can still add more league mechanics to your atlas because there are only a few Strongbox nodes available.
Since these Strongbox atlas skill nodes are conveniently located in the middle,you can branch out to whichever mechanic you want to add, such as Legion, Harbinger, Abyss, and a lot more.
If you are running this strategy, you must choose a specific map that has an exclusive high-value drop like Crimson Temple, Cemetery, Defiled Cathedral, or Tower.
Harbinger Scarab Of Warhoards
Harbinger Scarab of Warhoardshas a chance of duplicating currency shards dropped by monsters created by a Harbinger. The Harbinger farming strategy is the best way to get the coveted Mirror of Kalandra through Mirror Shard drops.
Since there is a chance to drop a Mirror Shard for each defeated Harbinger, duplicating that currency with the Harbinger Scarab of Warhourds is your main goal. You can also add the Unspeakable Offensive atlas passive skill to add another chance of turning a hypothetical Mirror Shard drop into a Mirror of Kalandra.
The Harbingers are considered a supporting type of farm method because you don’t need that much investment in the atlas tree. You can pair this with other farming strategies because you only need a few atlas points to take all the Harbinger nodes.
These Harbingers add more monsters to your maps, so they can synergize well with farming strategies that want additional monsters to spawn in the map.
Cartography Scarab Of Corruption
Cartography Scarabs of Corruptionturns non-unique map drops into a corrupted version with eight modifiers. While it might be easy to make corrupted maps with eight modifiers using Orb of Alchemy, Orb of Scouring, and Vaal Orbs, it gives players the quality of life they need.
By getting “rolled” maps outright from your farm strategy,you can immediately go to the next map after finishing one. The best part about the Scarab is you can use it in any farming strategy. If you add more atlas passive nodes that increase your chances of finding more maps, you can capitalize more on the Scarab’s buff, but it isn’t mandatory.
Even if the Scarab becomes expensive, it should be worth it. Imagine taking the time to roll all your maps to have at least 100 percent quantity. All that time could be spent farming another map.
Influencing Scarab Of Conversion
Influencing Scarab of Conversionturns tier 14+ map drops to have a chance to drop as an influenced (Shaper, Elder, or Conqueror) or synthesized maps. While these influenced maps might have fallen in value because of the Necropolis changes, they are still quite lucrative.
The Scarab is used mostly onatlas builds that boost the drop of maps and Boss-rushing strategies, capitalizing on the Destructive Play notable atlas passive. Once you gain enough influenced maps, you can purely run influenced maps for your runs.
You’ll start gaining Maven’s Invitations while doing a completely separate farming strategy.
