TheFallout 76Skyline Valley update features a new set of quests to enjoy centered around a new form of Ghoul called the Lost, and their connection to the Stolz family of Vault 63. Unlike many other vaults you’ve visited, the inhabitants here are all Ghouls, save for one – Hugo Stolz.

Hugo’s story is filled with sacrifice, tragedy, and deception, so you’ll need to learn some of the hardest truths on your own. Luckily, Hugo’s children, Audrey and Hilda, are here to help. While certain quests might fade from memory, the best quests in the Skyline Valley update deliver memorable moments.

Confronting Hugo about Oberlin in Fallout 76.

6Double-Crossed Wires

WhileDouble-Crossed Wires' name gives away some of the surprises coming in the quest, the twist may not be what you were expecting.Hugo and James Oberlin work closely together, and there seems to be a great relationship here, but Hugo is keeping something from James.

When you head to High Knob Lookout to search for Oberlin’s guy, Daniel, it seems like it’s going to be a simple search-and-rescue mission. While Daniel’s fate isn’t a shock, the holotape you find during the quest will initiate the first major choice for you, which will influence how the subsequent quests play out.

5Between The Lines

Between The Linesis a fairly straightforward mission to make you better acquainted with your surroundings in Vault 63 while also making a point to introduce you to some ofHugo’s family: his wife, Cassidy, and his daughter, Audrey. While Cassidy isn’t exactly the talkative sort, it’s clear that Audrey is a talented scientist.

The circumstances and family dynamics at play set the tone for the rest of the quests by hinting at the increasing friction between Hugo’s ambition, and Audrey’s good-natured practicality.

4The Eye Of The Storm

The Ritual Chamber in Fallout 76.

While the mechanics of the quest aren’t perfect, the conclusion to the story puts the power firmly in your hands to decide how it plays out. Your decision significantly impacts your version of Vault 63, but the quest concludes quickly and the choice itself is overly familiar, leaving other quests with more to offer.

3Oldest Trick In The Book

TheOldest Trick In The Book questis an excellent taste of the true nature behind everything that Hugo does: cold, calculated, and unconcerned about others. Hugo sends you to find an old acquaintance of Audrey’s named Alex, the leader of a group of Mothman Cultists.

Alex and the Cultists kidnap Cassidy, Hugo’s wife. Hugo will not take this lying down, so he gives you a book to pass on to Alex as a peace offering. The book is a trick to ensure that the situation is handled exactly the way Hugo wants and gives you a taste of Hugo’s vicious determination to achieve his goal.

2Housekeeping For Hire

On the surface,Housekeeping For Hiremay seem like one of the most inconsequential quests given you’re performing menial tasks around Vault 63, but there’s more to it. This quest gives youa glimpse into the daily life these Vault Dwellers experience, and what it’s like to live here with Hugo as the Overseer.

While they can be rude, Margaret, Laurence, and Julio are innocent pawns in Hugo’s plan who don’t necessarily deserve what he has in store. Getting to know the people and places at stake in the closing stages of the Skyline Valley quest makes your decision-making process feel different.

The Shadow chasing you in Fallout 76.

1The Powerhouse Of The Cell

The Powerhouse of the Cell is the best questfrom the Fallout 76 Skyline Valley update, in large part due tothe mission’s main antagonist: Shadow.Shadow is a terrifying shapeshifting creature that always appears behind you – think Slender Man – and cannot be defeated, only momentarily repelled by shots.

Aside from the murderous creature chasing you around the areas, your experiments with Hilda offer a genuine sense of progress within the story, even if her intentions aren’t entirely truthful. This quest embodies everything you should expect in Skyline Valley and has a heart-pounding chase sequence.
