Summary

Wuthering Wavesis a blend of grand adventure, fun side quests, and a world teeming with secrets. Hidden mysteries and intriguing scenarios are nestled across the landscape of Solaris-3, creating a rich tapestry for exploration. Among the most engaging mechanics in the game are a myriad of interesting puzzles and challenges.

The game’s puzzles are seamlessly incorporated into quests and sprinkled across the world for you to discover. Completing puzzles rewards you with chests containing valuable items like Astrite, Shell Credits, and leveling materials. Here are some of the best puzzles in the open world of Solaris-3.

10Training Dummies

One of the first puzzles you encounter on your adventure involves training dummies. The mission is surprisingly simple: hit all the dummies and then receive your prize. However, some of the puzzles can get tricky. It’s not uncommon for some of the training dummies to be hidden, requiring you to thoroughly search the surrounding foliage and cliffs. Additionally, some training dummies require you to solve an extra puzzle to unlock them.

When a chest can be unlocked by training dummies, it will be surrounded by small, glowing posts. Each post represents a training dummy. Each time you activate a training dummy, one of the posts will stop glowing, indicating how many more training dummies you need to find.

9Tactical Hologram: Detonate

Tactical Holograms are sprinkled throughout the landscape, presenting you with various challenges. One such challenge is the Detonate puzzle, which tests your speed and precision, requiring you to hit all the designated targets before the timer runs out.

While melee characters can often complete this challenge, a sharpshooter like Chixia or Mordefi is more effective. Their ranged attacks allow them to quickly and accurately destroy targets from a distance, which is particularly useful when the puzzle incorporates bombs into the mix.

8Induction Cell And Cell Socket

The induction cell and socket puzzles have you locating induction cells to place into sockets, which then will open doors and unlock chests. Once you find the cell, you use the levitator to maneuver the cell into place. Some cells and sockets have corresponding colors, requiring you to place them in a specific order. This adds a layer of complexity, as you must find the correct cells and match them with their respective sockets.

You can levitate the induction cells, but if you accidentally knock them against something, you will drop the cell and need to retrieve it. Be aware of your surroundings!

Sometimes all of your cells are the wrong color for the puzzle. You will need to seek out a transducer to change the color of the cell to correspond with specific sockets. This mechanic adds an extra layer of strategy, as you must determine the correct sequence of transducing and placing cells to solve the puzzle.

7Energy Matrix

The Energy Matrix puzzle presents you with a grid and a variety of puzzle pieces. Your job is to rotate the pieces and place them in the grid until you cover all the dark blue slots. This puzzle can be one of the more complicated challenges in the game, as it requires careful planning and spatial awareness to fit the pieces correctly.

It’s a good opportunity to put your Tetris skills to the test! The puzzle pieces come in various shapes and sizes, and finding the right combination to cover all the slots can be both challenging and rewarding.

6Hacking

As you explore Solaris-3, you’ll need to hack into red glowing panels. After interacting with the panel, a game screen will pop up, presenting you with a puzzle. To solve the puzzle, you must connect the like-colored dots without crossing any lines.

If you hack into a tank or another vehicle, don’t forget to open the trunk to retrieve your reward.

These hacking puzzles add an extra layer of complexity to your adventure, rewarding you with valuable items upon completion. They provide a nice break from the main story, allowing you to engage in a different type of gameplay that tests your problem-solving skills.

5Tactical Hologram: Challenge

The Tactical Hologram: Challenge is like a mini tacet field. Upon starting the challenge, you will be faced with three waves of increasingly difficult tacet discords (TDs) that you must defeat within a certain time to receive your chest. These challenges can get tricky, especially when they are set at the top of a cliff.

While you can push the TDs over the cliff, chasing after them can be problematic. Moving too far away from the hologram will end the challenge, forcing you to find a balance between staying within the challenge area and effectively dealing with the enemies. The easiest way to overcome the verticle challenge is to either grab a buddy to help or to use Jiyan’s Resonance Liberation, which creates a dragon whirlwind, pulling your enemies together.

4Magnetic Cube

The Magnetic Cube puzzle features multiple checkpoints and a floating cube. The goal of the puzzle is to slide the cube from point to point until it reaches a glowing square. When the cube reaches a checkpoint, glowing arrows will indicate the direction the cube can travel next.

You can jump on the cube to ride it while it travels from point to point. This is particularly useful when it crosses rivers.

This puzzle gets complicated quickly when the field is interrupted by ruins or a river. The challenge lies in figuring out the correct sequence of moves to successfully guide the cube to its destination despite the many obstacles. The Magnetic Cube puzzles, while not overly difficult, are an excellent reprieve from fighting back mobs of TDs.

3Overdash

There are two different types of Overdash puzzles, but they each have the same premise: navigate through an obstacle course to reach the end.

The Tactical Hologram: Overdash involves hologram pedestals that create a platforming challenge. You must either reach the finish line or collect a certain number of Target Points before the time runs out. These timed challenges test your agility and speed as you maneuver along the course.

The Overdash Club challenges, set in Jinzhou, are the ultimate game of The Floor Is Lava. The Overdash Club set up three different obstacle courses for you to navigate. Starting at a checkpoint, you must make your way to the finish line without touching the ground, collecting as many hologram tokens as possible along the way. You can use whatever route you choose, utilizing gliding, grappling points, and climbing. Unlike most challenges, there is no time limit, allowing you to focus on strategy and precision as you navigate these complex courses.

2Echo Challenge: Cruisewing, Gulpuff

Echo challenges are one of the most unique challenges in Wuthering Waves. Depending on the challenge, you transform into either a cruisewing or a gulpuff and navigate through an obstacle course while collecting hologram tokens within a set period of time. At the end of the course, there are three chests. The number of coins you collect determines how many chests unlock, offering varying rewards based on your performance.

Gulpuffs and cruisewings each possess distinct mechanics and skills, requiring different strategies to navigate their respective courses. As a gulpuff, you navigate water courses, using your abilities to propel yourself over obstacles and collect hologram tokens strategically placed along the route.

Cruisewing challenges can be finicky. If you don’t pass directly through the center of the obstacle course rings, you may not collect that coin. Accuracy is key!

On the other hand, cruisewing courses present a series of aerial hoops that you must fly through to reach the finish line. Mastery of speed and precision is crucial as you maneuver through these hoops, aiming to earn the highest score possible within the given time frame.

1Tactical Hologram: Calamity

Each Tactical Hologram: Calamity challenge pits you against one of the calamity-level TDs, providing a tougher test than standard boss fights. These TDs boast enhanced move sets and stronger attacks, escalating in difficulty across six levels. The higher the level, the greater the challenge, but also the better the rewards.

Unlike other Tactical Holograms, you cannot face the Calamity Holograms in multiplayer. You must refine your team to fight them alone. This is a good opportunity to use items to buff your stats and for healing.

Victory over the Calamity Holograms yields valuable rewards, including Astrite, four or five-star Echoes, and Data Sets. Data Sets can be exchanged for Echo leveling materials at the Simulation Training Store in the Points Shop. Calamity Holograms are the hardest open-world challenge in Wuthering Waves but are also the fastest way to refine your characters.
