Summary

InFallout 76,the United States government was hard at work crafting advanced Power Armor before the nuclear warfare that took out the majority of humanity. Now that humans have begun to reclaim the wasteland, you can find these old Power Armor suits scattered throughout the map, which can boost your overall damage and survivability.

Unlike other games in the Fallout universe, 76 features a massive number of different Power Armor sets that you can equip, with some even featuring unique effects. If you are interested in learning about which of these armors is best suited for your character, then check out the list below.

Since Power Armor consists of multiple parts attached to a main chassis, you can freely equip different sets of Power Armor at once, such as a head and leg from two different types of Power Armor.

To simplify this list, every Power Armor has been rated only in its completed set.

11Excavator Power Armor

The Excavator Power Armoris a bit of a unique entry on this list, since it was designed by a pre-war company that used these suits to mine for minerals instead of fighting in warfare. Because of this suit’s origins, this specific set of Power Armor is not suited to combat at all, providing some of the lowest protections in the game.

However, if you are in some serious need of raw resources and don’t plan on fighting any challenging enemies, then equip yourself with this full-power armor and benefit from earning four times the amount of minable resources. As an added cherry on top, this suit of Power Armor can also increase your overall carry capacity by 100, so you can carry even more resources back to your base.

10Raider Power Armor

The Raider Armor is actually a modified version of the T-45 armor, offering less protection and a different visual style. Specifically, the entire armor is coated in different metal plates that are in various states of rust and decay, as well as an iconic metal cage that surrounds the helmet.

With a maximum protection of 341 in all categories, this armor is seriously lacking when it comes to overall defenses. However, pieces of this armor are very easy to find, making it a nice option to use at the very start of the game.

9T-45 Power Armor

If you have seen any content from the Fallout series, then chances are you saw a glimpse of the T-45 Power Armor. This piece of equipment is the tried and true middle-of-the-road option for Power Armor, since it provides 360 defense in all categories.

Furthermore, you can begin collecting pieces of this armor at a much lower level than others, making it easier to complete a full set very early on in the game. However, these early pieces of T-45 will not level up alongside your character, so remember to always be on the lookout for upgrades when you reach higher levels.

8X-01 Power Armor

The X-01 Power Armor’s key feature is the mask, which has an almost alien aesthetic when compared to the other pieces of armor in the game. This suit was also commissioned before the Great War, but the eventual nuclear warfare made it impossible to complete.

Luckily, many post-war civilizations, such as the Brotherhood of Steel or the Institute, have used their resources to complete construction on these suits, which you can now take into combat. While the X-01 Power Armor offers defenses in all areas, it will protect you the most against radiation and energy damage.

7Hellcat Power Armor

By completing the ‘Steel Reign’ questline from theSteel Dawn update, you’ll unlock the plans to craft the Hellcat Power Armor, one of the best-looking suits in the entire game. This power armor comes in black metal and has an interesting chest piece that bends upwards and surrounds the imposing red visor and round helmet.

The armor itself offers incredible ballistic defenses, and having the entire suit equipped will also add on an extra 12 percent ballistic defense in every combat scenario. This suit does have slightly lower radiation and energy defenses, but these numbers are still more than adequate.

6Union Power Armor

The Union Power Armor is one of the best-looking suits in the entire game, coming in a rusty brown color and offering extra poison resistance and carry capacity if you equip the entire set. Interestingly, this specific Power Armor was designed by the Pittsburgh Union after the Great War.

Sadly, when the Union Power Armor was first released, it was the only suit in the game locked completely behind a paid battle pass, named Season Rewards. Luckily, if you collect enough stamps from expeditions, you can trade this currency for the Union Power Armor blueprints with Giuseppe Della Ripa, for 120 stamps per piece.

5T-51b Power Armor

With some of the highest defenses in the game, the T-51b Power Armor is an amalgamation of many different suits forged together. This suit of Power Armor is made out of many different colors and materials, almost like the designers used different pieces to create one sturdy final product.

At level 50, the T-51b Power Armor provides 454 defense against bothballistic and energy weapons, allowing you to survive much longer in intense combat scenarios. However, this Power Armor has a startlingly low radiation defense at only 305, so make sure you don’t face off against irradiated enemies in this suit.

4T-60 Power Armor

Just etching out the T-51b is the T-60 Power Armor, which the United States Military widely used during the Great War. At level 50, the T-60 Power Armor provides a massive amount of defense in every single damage type, with the strongest being 415 radiation protection, while the weakest is still a massive 370 energy protection.

Visually, this set of Power Armor is an upgraded version of the T-45, with a more sturdy frame, duller metals, and a larger helmet. Typically, this is the power armor that the Brotherhood of Steel utilizes since this armor was so popular among the military before the bombs dropped.

3Ultracite Power Armor

Ultracite is a radioactive glass that was found deep in the mineshafts of Fallout’s Appalachian Mountains. After the Great War, the Brotherhood of Steel decided to invest in this material, using it to make one of the most powerful sets of Power Armor in the entire game.

By providing a large amount of ballistic protection and an equal amount of energy and radiation protection, this armor is ready to face any number of enemies. This power armor is a modified version of the T-51b, with a blue coat of paint and bulkier pieces of metal.

2Strangler Heart Power Armor

The Strangler Heart Power armor was added to Fallout 76 in the ‘Nuclear Winter’ update and features a set of Ultracite armor completely taken over by Strangler Vines. Since this armor was originally Ultracite Power Armor, it features the exact same stats, with an added 500 radiation protection.

Furthermore, by having the entire set equipped, you may deal radiation damage in a small AOE around you, making this armor ideal for taking out hordes of enemies. To craft this set of Power Armor, you can trade for the blueprints with Regs at Vault 79 for Gold Bullion.
