Summary

Pokemoncome in all shapes and sizes. They are uniquely adapted to their environment, allowing them to survive in the deepest oceans or the hottest volcanic surfaces. However, there are also some Pokemon that are complete anomalies and make no sense from a Darwinian standpoint.

These Pokemon either broke the laws of nature, were created through artificial methods, or shouldn’t even be able to evolve without human intervention. Yet despite these barriers, some of them have managed to survive and multiply in the outside world. Here are ten Pokémon that shouldn’t exist in the wild.

Pokemon: The First Movie Mewtwo blocks Ash’s punch with Psychic.

10Mewtwo

Lab Grown Pokemon

Mewtwo is a Pokemon that should not even exist at all. It was genetically engineered in a lab on Cinnabar Island, and after escaping, it would make its way towards Cerulean Cave where it stayed hidden away.

Mewtwo is capable of launching devastating Psychic-type attacks and even recovering from any damage dealt to it. To ease its recapture, Team Rocket attempts to steal Silph Co technology to help them find unidentifiable Pokemon and the Master Ball to help them contain it successfully.

9Porygon

Technological Marvel

Porygon is one of the few artificial Pokemon in the franchise; while some point to its origins as the Silph Co., other documents point to it originating at Cinnabar Island, and in Pokemon Let’s Go they can live within Cerulean Cave, and many Porygon are given to you rather than encountered in the wild.

Its natural habitat is described as anywhere with computers and technology, and Porygon has two evolutions that are only accessible through trading with specific software items, the Upgrade and Dubious Disc.

8Galar Fossil Pokemon

Horrible Abominations

The Fossil Pokemon of Galar are not normally found in the wild; instead, you must collect different Fossils and bring them to scientists in the area. They will mix and match them to create a brand-new Pokémon.

While the fossils did originally belong toprehistoric Pokemon, it would have been impossible for their new forms to exist in the wild. They are in a constant state of agony with aquatic parts desperate to get to the sea and body temperatures that cause their other half to freeze to death.

Apple Pies Exist In Nature?

There are many Pokémon that can possess human objects to take their form; Sinistea takes the form of an antique tea cup, Rotom can possess household appliances to take on new types. Even Voltorb has a true form that is housed within the Apricorns that would eventually be crafted into modern Pokeballs.

Appletun, however, seems to have evolved into an apple pie shape all on its own. While the idea of a worm inhabiting an apple is iconic imagery, it is not likely that an animal would develop the man-made apple pie shape.

Gigantamax Inteleon from Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield

6Intelleon

James Bond Pokémon

Sobble was originally revealed as a secretive aquatic creature with the ability to go invisible. This shy and elusive nature had fans thinking it would have a Loch Ness final form as one of the cryptids of Europe; instead, Sobble would evolve into a James Bond-inspired lizard.

Inteleon’s whole gimmick is being a secret agent and while the concept is funny, it does beg the question. How would a Sobble even grasp the concept of James Bond out in the wild? What would an Intelleon even look like if it evolved naturally? Perhaps questions for a future Pokemon Legends title.

5Castform

The Power Of The Weather

The Hoenn regionis known for introducing many new climates to the franchise. There were vast deserts, volcanic ash-covered fields, and stormy wetlands with even taller grass, which is where Castform was first created, thanks to the weather institute of the region.

Castform was originally a gift Pokemon that changed shape based on the weather, and it has a Fire, Water, Ice, and Normal-type form. By generation five, it would start to appear in moving patches of grass though rarely, showing that Castform had become adapted to living in the wild to some extent.

4Type Null

The Ultra Beast Killer

Type Null was created by the Aether Foundation as a counter forUltra Beasts, and it can change its type using special memories. This was meant to resemble Arceus and its ability to change type using elemental plates.

Type Null also appeared again in the Galar region, but this time a new one was created by the Macro Cosmos company using stolen notes from Alola. So, while multiple Type Nulls exist, it is highly unlikely they have the numbers to exist in the wild.

3Alcremie

Bottom Of The Food Chain

Alcremie is one Pokemon that definitely would not be able to survive in the wild. Some Pokemon are made up of leaves, others are made of snow, and some are made up of sludge, but Alcremie, on the other hand, is made out of pure cream, making it just as much of a delicious treat as a Pokémon.

This makes it one of the most edible Pokemon in the wild, which would normally lead to overhunting as it could appear in any animal’s diet. Luckily, Alcremie has found a home next to the bakers of the Pokemon world.

2Gyarados

Magikarp Can’t Fight

Magikarp are some of the weakest Pokemon; the species is also known to have one of the weakest moves in Pokemon history; Splash, which does no damage. Magikarp can also learn Tackle and Flail in later generations so, for it to reach those levels without fainting in battle is nothing more than a miracle.

Magikarp eventually evolve into Gyarados when leveled up. However, with most baby Pokemon hatching at level one, it is very unlikely that Magikarp would be able to evolve without human intervention.

Klefki Proudly Shows Off Its Charms

1Klefki

Just A Key Ring

Klefki is a Steel/Fairy-type introduced in the Kalos region. Unlike other Pokemon, Klefki is not a case of possession like Yanmask or even magnetism, bringing objects together like Magnemite; Klefki is simply a sentient keyring with no ancient form to explain its appearance.

It seems Klefki was always a key, even before the concept of keys was invented. Either the world works in reverse with humans inventing objects based on Pokemon, or it’s simply one of those cases where you suspend your disbelief during a work of fiction.
