Summary
Fusion Cores are always a welcome sight inFallout 4. Whether you’re selling them to make a bunch of extra caps, or building up a stockpile of them to keep your Power Armor from turning into a massive paperweight, these little miracles of pre-war technology are useful for everyone.
While you’ll probably be strapped for Fusion Cores the most if you’re running both Power Armor and a weapon that uses them, like the mighty Gatling Laser, it’s worth picking these upregardless of the build you’re running. In any case, you should get going and find those Fusion Cores; they’re probably starting to feel a bit lonely.

Many of these locations have Fusion Cores that are only obtainable through terminal hacking, lockpicking, the Nuka-World DLC, or during specific quests.
8Robotics Disposal Ground
The Robotics Disposal Ground, found Northeast of Sanctuary, offers a quick and easy way to get three Fusion Cores. Well, easy is a bit subjective; it depends on how good you are at fighting or self-destructing dangerous robots.
The great part about this location is you can hit incredibly early in the game, and it is a great pitstop to make right before you meet Preston Garvey and the Minutemen, since this is where most players obtain their first suit of Power Armor. Who doesn’t love extra carrying capacity?
7The Malden Center
The Malden Center, located southeast of Skylanes Flight 1981, is a Synth-infested structure that you might be familiar with, thanks to the side quests that Scribe Haylen or Knight Rhys hand out, or during the Memory Interrupted questif you side with The Railroad.
While you’re in there, make sure you take an elevator from the main floor to a lower level, where you’ll find one Fusion Core inside a generator, and two others close nearby, with one inside a cardboard box, and the last one on the ground.
6Greenetech Genetics Building
The Greenetech Genetics building, located southeast of Cambridge Police Station, is only accessible once you’ve made it a decent way into the game, and started the Hunter/Hunted main story quest. You’ll know you’re at the right game stage if you can follow a Courser signal through your Pipboy’s radio.
Once you’re in the building, you’ll have tofight your way to the eighth floor, which has two Fusion Cores inside a gated, circular area locked behind a terminal, and another in a small room that you’ll have to pick the lock for.
5Four Leaf Fishpacking Plant
The Four Leaf Fishpacking Plant, located southwest of the Prydwen, has a factory-style layout with a ton of loot inside. To find all three Fusion Cores, look for a generator on the roof, a generator on the main floor, and on shelves near a Protectron robot pod.
It’s also worth noting that this location is fairly far to the southeast of the map. The further south you go, the tougher things get, so it might be worth your timegetting some extra levelsbefore coming here if you’re somewhat early into your playthrough.
4A Dangerous, But Rewarding Parking Garage
Located just north of Fallon’s Department Store, there is an unmarked, multi-level parking garage with a bunch of arrows drawn on its exterior pointing to a blue, metal door, seemingly inviting you to go inside and explore; that’s not suspicious, right?
Well, someone has turned this place into a maze, booby-trapped the hell out of it, and even sprinkled in some ghouls just to slow you down. Once you make it to the reward room, however, which will be behind one of three numbered doors, you’ll find four juicy Fusion Cores and other, notable loot.
3Goodneighbor
Goodneighbor, a ghoul-friendly neighborhoodlocated southeast of the Mass Fusion Building, gives you the opportunity to grab four Fusion Cores, so long as you’re willing to do a bit of work for Bobbi the ghoul during The Big Dig side quest.
After rescuing Mel from Diamond City security, keep an eye out for two generators while you’re blasting through walls and exploring to get the first two Fusion Cores. Then, once confronted by Fahrenheit, side with Bobbiand use the key found after the scuffle to unlock a train car to find the last two cores.
2Nuka-World Junkyard
If you own the Nuka-World DLC, then you’re in luck; you’ll be able to grab seven Fusion Cores from the Nuka-World Junkyard, located northwest of the Hubologist’s Camp. Just keep in mind, you’ll have to defeat plenty of enemies to get all of them.
The first two cores can be looted from a Sentry Bot, the second and third cores from the warehouse with a generator inside, the fifth from the jaws of a taxidermy bear, the sixth from the shelves of a junk metro car, and the last inside a large, blue, rusted teacup south of the Ultimate UFO.
1Any Vendor That Sells Guns And Ammunition
While talking to vendors is far fromthe most memorable experience you can have in the game, trading is also a vital part. When it comes to NPCs that sell primarily guns and ammunition, they’re your best bet for getting lots of Fusion Cores.
Obviously, there’s no specific location you have to go to since traders are everywhere, but if you need some ideas, you’re able to hit the Prydwen, Diamond City, Goodneighbor, or traveling caravan merchants like Trashcan Carla to get stocked up.
