Summary
With over 30 seasons of content,Fortnitehas come a long way since it was first introduced back in 2017. The popular battle royale is constantly shifting, adding fresh updates to the movement system, the building meta, and even battlepass mechanics.
Some mechanics don’t come back once they’ve been vaulted, while others are reintroduced to the game to a much lighter capacity. Yet despite this, they are always welcomed back with open arms. So, which vaulted mechanics are the ones that earned the chance to come back, and which ones deserve a second chance as the game gets more refined? Here are ten mechanics worth checking out.

10Spider-Man Gloves
Fortnite’s Web-Slinging Mechanic
Spider-Man’s Web Slingers completely changed the game during Fortnite Chapter 3 asone of the best crossover items. The item added a whole new mechanic to the game that made it easier to move around the map, reach the high ground, and even chase after players.
Just like the comics, you could swing from one building to the next, and also use the slingers to stick to the back of a moving vehicle and let it drag you around. The Web Slingers were great as a utility and mobility item and one that begs to come back.

9Craftable Weapons
Survival Of The Fittest
During Fortnite’s second chapter, a few unique weapons were added that could be enhanced using parts. The first of these items was during Fortnite Primal, where makeshift weapons could be crafted into mechanical, or primal weapons.
These weapons had unique stats and appearances, and while many players would choose mechanical weapons due to their superior stats and reliability, the concept of branching upgrades could come back if better implemented. It would give players more choices during a match and shake things up a bit.

8Augments
Perks In Fortnite
Augments were added to the game during Fortnite Chapter 4; these unique enhancements gave each player a chance for some powerups the longer they stayed alive. They could also spend gold to reroll for a better augment.
Augments shook the gameplay up outside the loot pool, and the feature would later be removed from the game at the start of Fortnite Chapter 5. Despite that, the mechanics were interesting enough to deserve a round two with some updated mechanics.

7Chrome Weapons
Self-Upgrading Weapons
Chrome weapons may not have been the most meta weapons, but they had a unique gameplay mechanic that begs to make a comeback. The more you do damage with chrome weapons, the quicker they can reach their next stage, which provides better firing speed and damage.
This gameplay mechanic promotes more aggressive gameplay, since getting more eliminations will make your weapon become a powerhouse. This reward is a nice little accomplishment since it guarantees that you can eventually end the game with legendary weapons in your inventory.

6The MotherShip
The Gulag In Fortnite
During the Fortnite Invasion, the island came under attack by aliens, and with UFOs and zero-gravity areas cropping up around the map, one addition stood out among the rest. This was the mothership which would appear overhead and suck players up.
Once sucked up, it transported players to a whole new area where players would compete in a minigame what would require players to push each other as they collect vault orbs. Players with enough orbs can then access a vault filled with rare loot before spawning back on the island.

5Customizable Skins
Collectibles In Fortnite
Towards the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 and the start of Chapter 3, customizable skins were added to each battle pass. These skins allowed players to unlock different colors, designs, and icons that could be mixed and matched to create new combinations.
This added an extra layer to gameplay as well, since it gave players additional objectives and collectables to work on each season. One character that took advantage of this mechanic was Snap, who could swap out his arms, legs, and even heads like an action figure.

4Large Vehicles
Tanks And Mechs
Fortnite has had its fair share of large and destructive vehicles, which includes the U.F.Os, the Tanks, and the dreaded Mechs. While they have been considered overpowered in the past, there have been plenty of new items to help even the odds against the destructive machines.
Large vehicles offer vehicular warfare to the island, whether it be riding with your squad on a tank, crushing buildings with mechs, or abducting players in your very own spacecraft. If balanced correctly, it can have the same effect as the vehicular mayhem of Fortnite Wrecked.

3Cube Monsters
Fortnite’s Mini Raids
Cube monsters were a unique set of enemies that cropped up in past Fortnite seasons. They were especially prominent during Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, in which different hot zones would spawn monsters on the map.
These hot zones allowed players to fight against a hoard of Cube monsters and earn material they could use to upgrade sideways weaponry. This additional gameplay element would reward players if they could beat the cube bosses in time and create new hotspots for players to engage with each other.

2Force Powers
Unlock Jedi Abilities
Force Powers were introduced into Fortnite as a way to enhancethe Star Wars collaband the lightsaber weapons. you may push players away or pull them close to you for a devastating slash, and Sith Powers even allow you to throw boulders at your opponent.
Any player can wield a lightsaber, however, to master the force abilities, you would need to train with a master by finding them on the map. Bringing the mechanic back would be a fun treat for players who missed out the first time around.

1Battle Pass Factions
A Dynamic Battle Pass
One ofthe best Fortnite battle passesalso contained a massive twist. Besides the usual skins that could be unlocked by leveling up, alternate styles were also made available which required players to choose a side, which were called Ghost and Shadow.
Depending on which side you initially chose, you would be able to unlock special styles, and lock in your choice by completing a mission. With so many different Factions added to the Fortnite lore, it’s only a matter of time before the mechanic makes a comeback.
