Summary
When theGame Boywas first released, it was a gateway to a whole new method of gaming. It was gaming that you kept in your pocket. Along for the ride are dozens of games tied in with your favorite movies. From action flicks to post-apocalyptic blockbusters, there is no stone left untouched.
Some games let you relive iconic moments on a handheld console. Do you want to fight dinosaurs on an island? How about using a blaster to evade the Stormtroopers? With the Game Boy, you are the star of your own story. Here are ten retro Game Boy games based on movies.

10Jurassic Park
Collect Dinosaur Eggs
Jurassic Park on Game Boy is very similar to the NES version; with an overhead camera angle, you play as Alan Grant from the film as he collects dinosaur eggs across the island. You will need to collect them all to progress to the next stage.
The game features many iconic dinosaurs, such as the Triceratops and the Trex. There are also plenty of smaller dinosaurs you’ll need to shoot before they drain your health; lives are limited, so watch out, this isn’t the era of autosaves.

9T2: The Arcade Game
An Arcade Classic
T2 Terminator plays like thelight gun arcade gameit was based on, but the only difference is it doesn’t make use of a light gun or have motion sensors. Everything is controlled through the D-Pad as you move the crosshair over various Hunter Killers or HK Units.
The HK will fire on you, depleting your health, and taking cover behind structures, so you need to blast them while the screen moves constantly. You can also regain health and upgrade your weapons by hitting health packs and boosters.

8Terminator II Judgment Day
Play As The T-800
Terminator II plays very differently from the first title; you play as Sarah Connors in a run-and-gun platformer as she fights the HK. Besides shooting, you also have a few minigames sprinkled in that act as a form of hacking.
This allows you to take control of the iconic T-800 as you lay waste on those pursuing John Connor. This lets you play a segment on a motorcycle having you shoot the truck chasing you while also avoiding obstacles on the road.

7Lethal Weapon
Guns And Grenades
Lethal Weapon got a video game adaptation that was released on multiple platforms including the Game Boy. It is a mix between a classic beat ‘em up and a run-and-gun with a weapon that could be collected to take enemies from afar.
you’re able to also beat up enemies with your fist or throw grenades to blow them up. While not the best beat-em-up or movie tie-in game, if you’re a fan of the Lethal Weapon series, then it’s a fun novelty to have in your pocket.

6Ghostbusters II
Capture Ghosts
Ghostbusters II lets you play as Egon, Winston, Ray, and Venkman; all the Ghostbusters are here as they travel from floor to floor clearing the building of ghosts. With a top-down camera view, players will need to explore each room and find the ghosts hiding inside.
When locating ghosts, you can use traps or the proton pack to subdue them; you’ll be controlling two characters at the same time with one of them following you around as a buddy. They will use their own tools to capture ghosts while you take a more active role in finding them.

5Batman The Videogame
Batman Breaks His Code
Batman on Game Boy is one of the most out-of-character adventures for the caped crusader. Rather than using his fists or the items in his utility belt, Batman pulls a special tool out of his holster, and yes, this version of Batman uses a gun.
The game is a run-and-gun shooter with collectible powerups that will give you some extra protection as you seek out the Joker. Despite the out-of-left-field gameplay, Batman on Game Boy has a surprisingly good soundtrack with a retro vibe.

4Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Don’t Get Them Wet
Remember the rules; don’t get them wet, expose them to the sun, or feed them after midnight, or bad things will happen. Gremlins 2: The New Batch on Game Boy lets you play as Gizmo after he accidentally unleashes Gremlins into the workplace.
Using objects such as frisbees, tomatoes, and flashlights, Gizmo will need to travel through the infested building Rambo style and defeat the various gremlins that appear. To get the best possible ending, you will also need to collect a special item on each level.

3Star Wars: A New Hope
Use Blasters And Lightsabers
Star Wars onGame Boy is a game so difficult, that you’ll need to use the Force to unlock its secrets. The 2D platformer lets you take control of Luke Skywalker as he wields blasters and lightsabers throughout the story of A New Hope.
The game is challenging, but it offers plenty of gameplay diversity, such as riding on a speeder, piloting an X-Wing, and switching between characters. Sprites are also distinct enough to give the game its own flavor of visuals.

2Water World
Cool Underwater Gameplay
In the future, the Earth will be covered in water with the last remnants of humanity surviving on homemade rafts, which is the plot of Water World and its corresponding video game adaptation. This provides the perfect setting for underwater levels and run-and-gun combat.
Half of the gameplay, has you diving underwater for items as you fight sea life, and the other half of the gameplay has you moving your raft from location to location as you board larger vessels and attack. This is when you have the freedom to shoot enemies and navigate the platforms.

1Godzilla
The Ultimate Monsters
Godzilla has stomped his way through almost 40 films and multiple series. One game that is very loosely based on the Showa era of films isGodzilla on Game Boy, which brings together multiple monsters, such as Godzilla, Anguirus, Rodan, and so many others.
Now chibi, your goal is to find Minilla, Godzilla’s son, so punch the rocks out of the way and destroy them before the other monsters kill you. Clear them all and you can move to the next room, but take too long and Ghidora will show up and instantly destroy you.
