2012’s Dragon’s Dogma was an enormous hit for Capcom and garnered a strong cult following. In subsequent years, the series has seen an online MMORPG and a Netflix animated show, but no true sequel. That changed in 2024, when Dragon’s Dogma 2 hit store shelves.

Santa Monica Studio’s God of War series was one of Sony’s trademark IPs during the PS2 and PS3 years. Even though the series also had a strong fanbase in 2018, the studio took the story of Kratos in a less bombastic direction.
2018’s God of War took the Greek Mythology blood-soaked journey of Kratos and added a touch of heart and emotion that the series previously lacked. Even if you prefer the original iteration of this franchise, there’s no denying that 2018’s God of War is a marvelous game.
7Dragon Age Inquisition

Even with darker days looming for BioWare, Inquisition proved that the studio still had a lot to offer in the RPG genre. Featuring their trademark BioWare motifs and stellar writing, Dragon Age: Inquisition is a fantasy jewel in the RPG crown.
6The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

There’s a reason Cyberpunk 2077’s original 2020 release was met with such a considerable backlash. Much of that is because of CD Projekt RED’s previously flawless reputation as a premier game studio. Arguably the stand-out title on their spotless record is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Based on author Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels, the third chapter in Geralt of Rivia monster hunter adventure was met with universal praise when it was released. Even as the shine wears off with time, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains a fantasy classic.

No discussion of sublime fantasy video games is complete without at least one FromSoftware title. The studio has proven that they are just as adroit at building one-of-a-kind fantasy worlds as they are at supplying them with savagely demanding enemies.
Elden Ring has more or less become thenumber one FromSoftware gameyou can play on the PS5. Even if the hardcore gameplay might be too formidable for you, the marvelous design of this fantastical realm might be worth an arm and leg, or, in this case, your patient.
2Divinity Original Sin 2

2023’s game of the yearproved to be the launching pad for Larian Studios to be hurled up in the upper selection of esteemed video game developers. There’s nary a blemish you’re able to detect here and in every way, Baldur’s Gate 3 illustrates the fantasy genre better than any other game on the PS5.
