Summary
The Stardew Valley1.6 Update brings fun new custom gift reactions. This includes loved, liked, neutral, disliked, and hated gifts. Instead of a generic response such as, “Wow, I love this,” or “Cool, thanks!”, you’ll get something that is much more in tune with the character.
This new dialogue brings insights into the characters, who they are, and what hobbies they have. There are so many new reactions to discover, but below you’ll find the 11 Best Custom Gift Reactions.
11Void Egg
Alex And Sebastian
Alex dislikes thevoid egg. He awkwardly looks at you after you’ve given it to him, and then says that while he usually likes eggs, this one looks evil.
Sebastian lovesVoid Eggsand gets very excited that you’re presenting one to him. He smiles brightly, announcing that this egg speaks to him, then thanks you, proclaiming that he will be putting it on his desk.
10Monster Compendium
Abigail And Krobus
One of the coolest things about gifting during the update is that you can give the NPCs some of the new books, and theMonster Compendiumgets a fantastic reaction from both Abigail and Krobus. Abigail grins, and states that she loves the creepy-looking book; she then flips through it and says she’ll review it before exploring the mines.
Krobus grins as well,which is adorable, and says that all of his friends are in the book. He then giggles, realizing that he is also in the book, and it is one of the cutest reactions to a gift that Stardew has ever had.
9Milk
Dwarf
The dwarf lovesmilk and responds by slurping it up. As he continues to chug it, he says that the milk is interesting.
Then he looks at you and asks for a reminder of where this “juice” comes from. He slurps the milk again once he’s received his answer, happy to have his strange little treat.
8Coffee and Triple Shot Espresso
Jas And Willy
Jas and Willy have opposing reactionsto getting coffee. Jas hates it, her eyes look almost watery, and she sighs, saying that Aunt Marnie doesn’t let her drink coffee yet (which is fair enough, considering she’s still a kid.)
Willy, on the other hand, likes getting coffee. He looks to the side, sighing happily, and says that this stuff warms the ol’ bones, and then thanks you.
Coffee and Triple Shot Espresso garner the same responses.
7Flowers
Haley And Sandy
Haley and Sandy both have adorable reactionsto receiving flowers; Haley, when gifted aSunflower, smiles widely and admits that the flowers are beautiful. She says that Sunflowers are her absolute favorite.
Sandy also grins when gifted flowers, so wide her eyes close, and she responds with a “Wow” as well, and then says “Nothing says spring like a Stardew ValleyDaffodil.” Sandy has a different reaction to different flowers, as well, and for Sweet Pea, she comments on the smell.
6Wild Bait
Linus
During your four-heart event with Linus, you learn how tocreate Wild Bait, a special type of bait that gives you a chance to get multiples while fishing. Since Linus is the person who teaches you the recipe, he has a unique reaction to gifting it to him.
Linussmiles brightly at you and inspects the bait. Then, in a very sweet, full-circle moment, he says it looks perfect and compliments you on being a good student.
5Hated Creatures
Elliot And Willy
Some of the hated gifts are creatures, specifically sea creatures. If you get Elliot aSea Cucumber, he gasps and exclaims that it’s still wriggling, and he then yells to get that “abomination” away from him.
If you give Willy aMutant Carp, he despises it and starts by saying, “The horror!” and then asks what kind of monster this is. Mutant Carpcan only be caught once per save file, so I’d recommend skipping this specific gift.
4Aquamarine
Emily
Emily’s reaction to receiving an aquamarine is so spot on for her; she starts talking about the texture at first, claiming that it’s an incredibly smooth gem. Then she says when she holds it, she can feel the energy of all the mermaids in the sea.
Emily ends the interaction by thanking you. Since she believes in magic, this suggests she truly believes she can feel that energy, which makes this reaction beautiful.
3Broken Glasses
Evelyn
Having a use for trash is always exciting, and Evelyn has a new gift you can give her, broken glasses. She thanked you and then commented that she’d been looking everywhere for her reading glasses.
Since you fish the glasses, she looks closer at them and lets you know that they’ve become quite filthy.
2Truffle
Leah
Leah smiles wide when yougive her a truffle.She asks where you found it and inspects it. She then mentions how great it will beif you grate it over fresh pasta.
It’s nice to see this side of Leah and hear her mention recipes that complement her love for foraging.
