Whether he’s commenting on the state of the Wilderness or recalling a memory in the streets of Baldur’s Gate, every sentence paints a picture. There are many quotes to remember from your playthroughs with Astarion by your side, but here are some of our favourites.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Astarion near the Druid’s Grove

With his unique charm and witty personality to consider, we’ve selected several quotes that truly encompass his personality and ideals. It’s hard, to sum up Astarion, but we’ve chosen quotes that we think do a decent job of getting to know the enigmatic character.

This list contains spoilers for Astarion’s storyline.

8"Hundreds? Urgh, It’ll TakeHoursTo Kill Them All. They’re Right, We Should Just Go."

This quote has a few specific requirements to meet. You’ll need to be a Ranger and talk to Elegis at the Druid’s Grove. Elegis is, and rightfully so, worried about the goblin army rapidly approaching. She mentions that they hunt in packs, and there could be hundreds on their way.

Astarion doesn’t care much for the people in the Grove, not when it’s so much effort to do so. He knows clearing out goblins is easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s quick. Ever the empath, Astarion would prefer to leave the Grove to their fate than hang around and help. It’s a hilarious first glance at the laid-back companion who doesn’t want to get his hands dirty.

7"We Can’t Let Our Lives Be Ruled By Fear. Or Else We Never Really Live."

Astarion is no stranger to being a puppet controlled by somebody else. His time with Cazador was, without a doubt, traumatic and frightening. It’s nice to see that he has some wise words for you when you’re also battling your Dark Urge.

This particular quote will stick with you through a lot. Living without fear is the only way to live. If not, we’re living through something else that controls us. Astarion might be familiar with living his life for someone else; it’s reassuring that he recognises there’s always something better to live for.

6"Are You Alright Now, Or Is Today A ‘I Will Wed You With A Delicate Veil Of Blood Blooming Over Your White Curls’ Kind Of Day?"

Even if there are moments during Dark Urge playthroughs that grip our hearts, Astarion doesn’t dwell on them for long. When romancing him, you’ll go through a long night of resisting your temptation to kill him.

It’s hard to blame anyone who wouldn’t want to continue a relationship when their partner tries to kill them. Thankfully, Astarion takes it like a light-hearted joke. This greeting next morning should bring you some relief amid your adventures.

5"Well, Apparently There’s A Limit. Somewhere Between A Nice Summer’s Day And The Full, Concentrated Power Of The Sun."

Possibly the most well-known quote by all Astarion enjoyers. There’s nothing more surprising than being told off for blowing up a fellow companion, whether it was by accident or not. There are some interesting reactions to being caught in the explosion, but none take it as personally as poor Astarion.

Astarion might be able to walk in the sun without consequence, but that doesn’t mean he should experience it so intensely. It’s a shame that hearing this quote means you’ve destroyed theentire Githyanki Crèche, but some might say it’s worth it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Astarion with his hand up in the Circus of the Last Days in Act Three

This conversation will only take place if you get Withers to resurrect Astarion. Using a scroll makes him react as if he escaped alongside you.

4"Of Course, What Fun!I’m Going To F***ing Kill You."

It’s unclear why Astarion disapproves so much when you make him participate in the circus act during Act Three. Being the centre of attention in a large crowd seems like something he’d enjoy, but maybe circuses are where he draws the line.

Of course, it’s a unique circus act, with Dribbles The Clown not quite who he seems. Even though other companions enjoy participating in the festivities, Astarion’s hilariously stark reaction is worth sending him up to the stage.

3"You saved me from myself. This is a gift, you know, thank you. I won’t forget it."

Astarion’s voice line during Act One, when he feeds on you for the first time, is one of the most memorable quotes in the game. This particular quote from Act Three mirrors the original after helping to free Astarion from the grasp of his previous master, Cazador.

Convincing Astarion to stop the ritual in the Szarr palace causes him to thank you as he did earlier in the game. After experiencing the story and developing the storylines of these characters, having a quote like this to reminisce about your first meeting with Astarion is both clever and touching.

2"This group is full of weirdos."

While Astarion can’t set himself apart from the rest of your happy group, he does speak the truth when he describes his fellow companions. They’rea unique bunchwith varying backstories and personalities, so it’s no surprise that someone eventually points out how odd they are.

Of course, it only happens when more unusual circumstances take place during Act Three. When suspicions arise that Orin has replaced one of your companions, you’re right to be concerned. At least you have Astarion to ease the tension when you find out.

Astarion’s storyline is intense. Learning about his past with Cazador and taking the route to freedom comes with some emotional but equally thrilling moments. Defeating Cazador and convincing Astarion to live for himself is difficult, but it’s one of the most gratifying.

There’s nothing more satisfying than allowing Astarion to live life to the fullest once again. Many moments of Baldur’s Gate 3 can hit you in the heart, but knowing you’ve given your companion a second chance at life is one of the greatest moments.
