Summary

Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode pokes fun at the fact that M. Bison has multiple different names depending on which region you’re from, including Vega and Balrog.

It doesn’t feel like that long ago when Street Fighter 6capped off its first season of DLC with the long-awaited release of Akuma, but it’s already sprinting ahead into Season 2 with another of the series' iconic villains - M. Bison. After being confirmed to be part of the second Character Pass at Summer Game Fest, M. Bison went live in Street Fighter 6 just a few days ago and seems to have been met with a positive reception.

As great as M. Bison is to play as, one of the most interesting things to come from his inclusion in Street Fighter 6is his impact on the game’s overall story. Just like with the other DLC fighters, players can run into Bison in the World Tour mode, which gives you a chance to interact with him and discover his story and an interesting nod to the character’s history.

Street Fighter 6 References M. Bison Having Multiple Names

Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode is already jam-packed with references to the series, but M. Bison’s introduction to the game has added one of its most interesting yet. If you head to Old Nayshall at nighttime, you can run into Bison and start a quest that eventually results in him becoming your master and teaching you some of his moves.

M. Bison’s appearance in Street Fighter 6 alsogives us a startling look at his naked butt. Yep, that’s a thing.

When you first chat with Bison, who is suffering from amnesia and unaware of his past, he’ll say, “Bison, Vega, Shadaloo, Lord… Call me whatever you please”. Newer Street Fighter fans might think it’s just a sign that he doesn’t know who he is but,as pointed out by Twitter user FGAnniversaries, it’s actually a nice nod to the fact that M. Bison is actually called Vega in Japan.

For those who don’t know,M. Bison is actually called Vega in Japanand has been ever since he was introduced to the series as the final boss of Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. During localisation, however, Capcom thought that the name wasn’t threatening enough for the game’s final boss and changed it to M. Bison while passing Vega over to everyone’s favourite claw-wielding fighter.

M. Bison’s mention of having more than one name is the first time that the character’s regional differences have been referenced in Street Fighter, making it a nice bit of canonisation alongside being a reference for hardcore fans. It doesn’t quite let us forget seeing his naked bum, but it’s a neat detail regardless.
