Summary
Starfieldhas received regular support fromBethesdasince it launched last September, and that shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Just a couple of weeks ago, we got a huge patch thatoverhauled the maps and let us customise the interior of our ships.
Now, Starfield players may have already spotted the next major update. Over in the subreddit, user JarusinTheStars noticed that there have been far more updates made to Starfield’s Steam page than usual in the past week. These changes can be seen in theSteamdatabase, not on its public page, and have fans speculating that Bethesda has yet another huge patch on the way, or is making way for the Shattered Space DLC.
It Looks Like Bethesda Is Working On Something Big For Starfield
“Over the past week (and more generally since May 1st), there have been more changes than ever since launch, sometimes more than 10 per day,” notes JarusinTheStars. “My theory is that on the day of the Xbox Showcase (June 9), they’ll be presenting the Shattered Space expansion as well as the June update, and I think it’ll be even bigger than the last one.”
True enough, next week’s showcase would be a great chance for Bethesda to show players what it’s been cooking up behind the scenes. We’ll almost definitely get some news about the Shattered Space DLC too, so it’s possible that these numerous updates behind the scenes are in aid of getting ready for that.
Right now, all we know is thatthe DLC will launch this autumn. We might get a more specific release date at the showcase.
Aside from that, it’s possible that some kind of update will drop during the showcase itself. Xbox certainly doesn’t seem to be opposed to this strategy, given that itshadowdropped entire games before, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s planned for Starfield next weekend.
Looking beyond Starfield, Bethesda certainly has its plate full. We already know thatThe Elder Scrolls 6will be its next release, but it also recently confirmed thatit has “plans” for more Fallout games. Combine that with ongoing support for Starfield, and that’s a whole lot for Bethesda to be working on at once.
