Summary

Stardew Valley’slatest patch is here, though if you’re expecting some wild new changes, like pet turtlesornew mine layouts, you’re going to be a little disappointed. Patch 1.6.6 is very much dedicated to making minor changes to existing content, fixing some stuff that has been bugging players for quite some time, and also reverts some of the controversial translation issues in the Chinese version of the game.

We’ll start with the gameplay tweaks first, which are small in number but still fairly significant. The biggest tweak will benefit your bee houses, as they’ll now work with flowers that have been placed in flower pots, as previously only flowers in the ground could be used. You can now also toggle the Gold Clock building to be turned on or off, coal can be traded for mahogany seeds at raccoons, and 50 percent mastery XP buff now only applies to farming as was originally intended.

Next up are the fixes, but we won’t go through them all here as there are many. You canfind the full notes hereif you want to know if a particular issue has been fixed in this patch, but various small things, such as being able to gift a wilted bouquet to your spouse, disappearing raccoons, and inaccessible volcano dungeon areas, as well as several bigger issues such as game crashes in specific events or versions, are now a thing of the past.

Stardew Valley’s Chinese Translation Changes Have Been Reverted

Besides that, Patch 1.6.6 has also addressed recent complaints surrounding the game’s Chinese translation, something which creator Eric Barone apologized for earlier this week. While it was never explained exactly why some Chinese players were upset, there was some theorizingthat recent changes to the translation and font made them incorrect in some cases, and made it seem like characters were a lot angrier than they actually were.

The Chinese text and the font used has now been reverted to the Patch 1.6.3 version, presumably until Barone consults some specialists. Other than that, Barone thanks players for their continued support, and promises that Patch 1.6 is still in the works for mobile and consoles, thanking these players for their “continued patience”.
