Sonyhas confirmed its reward points program is coming to an end. That means if you’ve been accruing them but not spending them, the window during which you can redeem them is closing. Don’t panic if this is the first you’re hearing of this. If you have a Sony orPlayStationVisa credit card and you’ve been using it to get rewards points, you have until July 04, 2025, to spend them. Wait until after that, or if you’re reading this after that date, then it’s too late and those reward points are now worth nothing.
Checking And Spending Your Rewards Points
First thing’s first - time to check if you actually have any points to spend in the first place. If you have a Sony or PlayStation credit card and you’ve ever used it to buy anything, but then not redeemed the points you earned afterwards, odds are you do. To check how many points you have you will need tolog into your account on the Sony Rewards website, or access the Sony rewards app.
Whichever way you log in, your points total should be displayed in the top right corner of the screen. You can also tap the profile icon on the app which will take you to your profile page for a better look at how many points you have left. After June 30, 2025, your points total will no longer be displayed. It would be pretty mean of Sony to keep reminding you of how many points you have when you can’t spend them.

Now you know how many points you have, time to go spend them. There aremore than 350 items on the Sony Rewards storeincluding t-shirts, hoodies, and if there’s absolutely nothing else you want, gift cards you can use on the PlayStation Store, starting at $5 and going all the way up to $50. For an idea of what you can get with your points, a $50 gift card costs 5,000, aGod of War Ragnarokt-shirt is 2,995, and aThe Last Of Us Part 2rain jacket is 28,995.
Once you’ve found something you like, redeeming your points is simple.Add anything you like the look of to your cartlike you would in a normal online store, and thenproceed to checkout and spend the points, again, like you would in any other online store. Most of the items are also available to buy with money, so if you do miss the cut-off, or see something you like but don’t have enough points to buy it, it might bein stock on the PlayStation Gear Store.

Earning Points From Now Until June 06, 2025

However, the cut-off date for mailing bonus points and purchasing credit request forms is July 21.
If you’re only just learning about the Sony Rewards Program and figure this might be a good opportunity to rack up some points while you still have time to do so, I’ve got bad news for you on that front. The rewards program is now closed to new members. Only those who were a part of the program before the shutdown was announced can continue to redeem and spend points between now and the end of 2024.

What’s Going On With PlayStation Stars?
Sony’s announcement that it will be ending its rewards program coincided with long-standing issues with PlayStation Stars. Stars is the far newer rewards system through which PlayStation owners can redeem digital collectibles. However, Stars has been down since the beginning of June, and remains down at the time of typing this, prompting some to think the newer service is headed the same way as Sony Rewards.
That is not the case, and while it remains unclear why Stars is having issues, it is not being scrapped. In fact, some believe the closure of Rewards is so Sony can shift all of its focus to Stars when it comes to PlayStation users redeeming points for collectibles. A Days of Play community challenge was supposed to end with a special Stars reward, but since the program was down when the challenge ended,PlayStation published codes for free Astro Bot avatarsin the main time. The codes will remain live until June 11, 2025.
