Here, we can see the new Shadow levels, which take inspiration from the anti-hero’s appearances in other Sonic games. The influences come from Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic ‘06, and of course, Shadow’s spin-off game.

We also got some details about the extras being shipped with the game. Anyone with a pre-order can nab a Sonic skin that uses his character model from the original Sonic Adventure, as well as an in-universe journal that explains Shadow’s creation.

Fans have been looking forward to this release ever since it was unveiled, and not just because ofits, uh, eye-catching name. Using a remake of an already popular game as a chance to give us more Shadow material is a smart move fromSega, as many fans have previously felt that the fan-favourite hedgehog is underused. Now, he’s going to be in every major release this year, all part ofThe Year of Shadow.

Sonic X Shadow Generations will also revisitthe fan-favourite plot point of Maria, a child, being killed by the military. It’s something the series has steered clear of since the 2000s, and many didn’t think Sega would be bold enough to bring it up again. Now, it looks like this part of Shadow’s backstory willeven be included in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie later this year. It’ll be interesting to see how they pull that off.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is set to launch on October 25. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
