Summary
Sonic the Hedgehogfans really hate how strangely detailed his forehead wrinkles are in his updated design for the Knuckles TV show on Paramount.
We’re just one week away from the release of Paramount’s Knuckles TV show and, as we got closer to the premiere on April 26,more clips from the show have started to be revealed. Although most of the reactions to the Knuckles show have been positive so far, with fans getting more on board with the spin-off since it was announced, there is something strange in the air.
And by strange, I am, of course, talking about Sonic’s new redesign for the show. As we’ve reported in the past,Sonic seems to have aged up considerably in the time since the first movie, and that is shown in full force in Knuckles, as he’s much taller than he was in the first two movies and even looks a bit older in the face.
Sonic Might Be A Bit Too Detailed In Knuckles
As much as I love seeing Sonic canonically grow older instead of just looking the same across several years (Frontiers' lower voice is an absolute treat), it’s possible that his new design might be a little too detailed. Just the other day,a new clip of Knuckles was shared that focuses on Sonic and Tails as they talk to Maddieabout Knuckles and how he’s been doing since the second film.
So far, so good, but what’s really weird about the clip is how hyper-detailed Sonic’s forehead wrinkles are. As he talks and frowns, his forehead is presented with far more detail than it was in the first two movies, which makes him look less like a gaming character in the real world and more like someone in a rubbery Sonic mask.
I noticed howstrangely overdesigned Sonic looked when we got the first trailer for Knuckles, but these recent clips seem to have shone a spotlight on the forehead, as fans are just starting to notice it.Take Twitter user TheMrPasquale, for example, who shared an image of the forehead wrinkles and said, “Sonic’s forehead wrinkles are actually super distracting? Why are they so detailed LMAO”.
“I hope Sonic’s model in 3 is kinda different cause this is the wrinkliest I’ve seen movie sonic and I don’t really like it.”
That tweet already has over 7,000 likes, which seems to indicate that a lot of Sonic fans have noticed how strange the hedgehog looks this time around and that it’s mainly due to how weirdly realistic his forehead wrinkles are. Let’s just hope that the design takes a bit of a chill pill for Sonic 3, because it’s hard to look him in the eyes right now.
