Summary

Dragon Age: The Veilguardjust got itsbiggest trailer yet, giving us 20 minutes of gameplay. And while there was a huge focus on combat, we also got a huge story moment towards the end, with Solas tearing down the veil.

At this moment, we got a quick tease for what appears to be two other villains - strange creatures from the fade itself. We can only see their silhouettes, but it certainly seems that The Veilguard is setting up some more big bads, not just Solas.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Might Be Setting Up A Trio Of Villains

This moment comes at the very end of the trailer after Varric has failed to put an end to Solas' plan. Here, there’s a brief shot of Solas standing alongside two fade creatures, with the way that they’re framed indicating that they will be of some significance in the story.

BioWare expanded on these figures in a press release sent out after the trailer went live. “[Solas'] ritual goes awry, and his worst fears are realized, as two of his most ancient and powerful adversaries are released,” it reads. “They seek only to finish what they started millennia ago – the complete and utter domination of our world.”

You may have also spotted that The Veilguard isbringing back the dialogue wheel from Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition. Sorry, Origins fans. Looks like it’s here for good.

I’m sure fans will spend the next few months until release studying every frame of this trailer. After all,we had to do that with concept artfor years as we waited for any details on the fourth game, so if anything, we’re eating good right now.

This trailer came a few days afterthe game’s re-reveal trailer, introducing us to our new companions. They include Lace Harding, who returns from Dragon Age: Inquisition. The trailer also set up the name change, as the game was previously known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. BioWare says this change was to better reflect the story, focussing on our companions rather than the enemy.

We’ll have to wait and see what else BioWare is willing to show off before launch. In any case, we don’t have to wait too much longer to play the game, as Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to launch this autumn.
