Summary

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterhas revealed that it will permanently mark Snake whenever he takes damage, as the developers want his injuries to tell “each player’s unique journey” through the game.

Last week, we gota good look at Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterthanks to the game’s first official trailer popping up at the Xbox Game Showcase. It showed off some impressively faithful cutscenes, fast-paced gameplay, and tense stealth sequences, and now that the marketing cycle is in full flow, Konami has started providing more details about the titleon its official website(thanksKotaku).

The Boss in the Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater remake

While it’s not the most in-depth source of information, there is one little passage that explains how the remake is using groundbreaking tech to give us a more realistic experience. Metal Gear Solid 3 is known as one of the grittier games in the series, as Snake is airdropped into the jungle and asked to survive on his own with no supplies, and the remake will be adding to that grittiness by having all the injuries Snake sustains mark his body permanently.

Snake’s Injuries In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Will Mark Him Permanently

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s website explains that throughout the game, the upgraded battle system will cause Snake’s clothes to wear and tear as you sustain damage, and that things like bruises and bullet wounds will stay on Snake’s body even hours later. Konami then goes on to explain that it’s doing this so that his marks will tell “a story of each player’s unique journey through the game.” Poor Snake’s going to need a walker after I take control of him.

It is just one way in which Konami is using the Snake Eater remake to flex its development muscles, alongside the new visuals, and the game looks absolutely stunning so far, even if some aren’t too happy aboutthe lack of the original game’s iconic green filter.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know when we’ll be able to get our hands on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, though it appears GameStop may have given us a good idea. On Monday night, fans noticed that a GameStop post on the official Twitter account had included a date of November 17 when selling pre-orders, suggesting the company may have leaked the date. It also could be an honest mistake though, as that date is a Sunday and also happens to be the release date of the original Metal Gear Solid 3.
