Silent Hill 2 Remakefinally has a confirmed release date, as Konami and developer Bloober Team have announced during PlayStation’s latest State of Play that the game will launch on October 8 later this year.

It’s not unfair to say that Silent Hill 2 Remake has had a bit of an iffy marketing cycle, withBloober and Konami pointing fingers at each otherover lackluster trailers and strangely action-filled combat. Both have struggled to do much right by the Silent Hill community lately, butthe hint of a redesigned James Sunderlandto make him more teen heartthrob than middle-aged dad appears to have got people back on board.

Thankfully, just in time for a new trailer, as Silent Hill 2 Remake was shown off yet again during PlayStation’s latest State of Play showcase, along with a release date to let us know exactly when we’ll be able to step into the shoes of our mentally distraught protagonist once again. As revealed by the new trailer, Silent Hill 2 Remake will launch on October 8 later this year, just in time for spooky season.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Gets New Gameplay Trailer And Release Date

On top of the release date, we also got some new gameplay - a lot of it once again combat focused - which will be sure to irritate the crowd that wants the remake to start feeling more atmospheric and subdued than what Bloober Team and Konami are making it out to be. We can see James shooting a variety of different monsters with a pistol and a rifle, as well as attacking a monster with a pipe in gameplay that looks quite reminiscent of the original.

There were a few sprinklings of some dark, moody environments throughout too, but a lot of the trailer was focused on the action. It looks very shiny and polished, though some are already complaining about Angela’s character model in the trailer’s replies. It’s certain to be a divisive title, highly dependent on your thoughts on the original, but Bloober will be hoping that it does the title justice when it launches on October 8.

Silent Hill 2 Remake wasn’t the only title that got a release date during this show either, as we also got a date forPlayStation’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Concord, as well asthe reveal and release date for a new Astro Bot game.
