Power is a vital resource inFallout Shelter, and without it, your Vault will start to shut down. Gathering enough power to keep the lights on is your first priority, and there are several ways to do it. As your Vault expands, you’ll need more power. Once you unlock the Nuclear Reactor, you’ll need to make a decision on how best to build a supply of power.
Power Generator rooms and Nuclear Reactor rooms both produce power, but they also have different pros and cons. We’ll go over the pros and cons so you can decide what’s best for your Vault.
Pros And Cons To Power Generator Rooms
Toget more powerin Fallout Shelter, you’ll need tobuild the right production room. From the beginning,Power Generator roomsare available to build. They onlycost 100 bottle capsto start, though the total will increase with each additional one you build.
Pros
The Power Generator rooms are immediately available andcost far less than the Nuclear Reactors. You can easilybuild, upgrade, and collect resourcesfrom this room without having to shell out all your bottle caps. It also produces power at a faster rate.
Cons
ThePower Generator is easily outpacedby the Nuclear Reactor. Itcan’t complete with the massive increase in storage, which ensures that no power resources are going to waste.

Pros And Cons To Nuclear Reactor Rooms
Nuclear Reactors areunlocked after you have 60 Dwellersin your Vault, so it will take some time before you’re able to build one. You’ll notice that is alsohelps produce power, but what makes it different from the Power Plant?
If you have a lot of rooms andhigh need for power, the Nuclear Reactorwill produce moreof this valuable resource. Like other rooms,merging three Nuclear Reactorstogether creates thehighest output and storageratios.
The downside to the Nuclear Reactors comes mainly with theextremely high costcompared to the Power Plant. For the cost of afully upgraded Super Reactor, you can fully upgradeseveral Power Generator rooms.

Is The Nuclear Reactor Better Than The Power Generator?
Yes and no. The short answer is yes, theNuclear Reactor offers more outputper Dweller and more storage. The long answer is no, but that depends on several factors.
If you’replaying on Survival mode, you may want to have a reduced power storage so that incidents don’t drain excess power.
