Summary

One fan discovered thatBaldur’s Gate 3has a hidden, second approval meter for Shadowheart called “Nightsong Points”.

As reported byPC Gamer, you’re able to get six of these points in Acts 1 and 2, but you only need four to trigger a secret conversation in which she begins to doubt Shar without needing that push we normally give.

Combined witha high approval rating—which you may see in her character tab—she will spare the Nightsong herself without needing to be persuaded. It doesn’t alter how she behaves in Act 3, but it does mean that you get a unique interaction most of us completely missed. Basically, here’s an excuse for your tenth playthrough.

How The Hidden Nightsong Points Work

Nightsong Points work behind the scenes with an internal checklist, marking off certain interactions as you play. Once you’ve hit enough of them, you’ll get a new, unique scene with Shadowheart.

Since the system is completely hidden from the player, you’ll have to note down these parameters and tick them off as you go, ensuring that you complete at least four.

YouTuber SlimX, who discovered this secret system, notes that the conversation about her hand wound appears to be bugged, so it might not count. Just to be safe, if you want to try this for yourself, complete at least five of these interactions or don’t include the hand one when counting.

If you want to savethe Nightsongwithout having to persuade Shadowheart or by filling her two approval meters—this is especially handy for Honour Mode—you can also drop the Spear of Night once you’ve entered the Shadowfel. She won’t be able to use it then. Shar truly sends her strongest soldiers.
