Summary

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduces a new puzzle called Sealed Spiritsprings. Like in the base game, they let you leap up a height with Torrent, but as the name suggests, they’re locked by rock towers which are hidden nearby. Once destroyed, the Spiritspring will be freed. However, fans have discovered a much quicker way to unlock them.

As it turns out, Margit’s Shackle will immediately destroy the tower if used while standing in the Spiritspring. It’s unclear if this is intentional or a bug, and if it works on all of them (such as the shortcut in Rauh Ruins) but it’s one helluva time saver.

Margit’s Shackle can also be usedto reveal illusory walls, of whichShadow of the Erdtree has alot.

People are even leaving clues in-game to guide people towards this solution so that they don’t have to run around looking for a little pile of rubble to break. “Saw a sign that said something like, ‘Try Omen, item’ that made me try this. Very cool”. Sometimes, it’s worth listening to messages… unless they tell you to jump off a cliff. 50/50 chance you’re gonna die there.

Where To Get Margit’s Shackle In Elden Ring

If you’re itching to try this for yourself, Margit’s Shackle isn’t a hard item to find. In the baseElden Ring, you’re able to purchase it fromPatchesin Murkwater Cave for 5,000 Runes.

Murkwater Cave is located in Limgrave along the Murkwater River. If you need a little extra help getting Margit’s Shackle, feel free to use ourfull guide.

Margit’s Shackle is a reusable item that you can slot in your hotbar that’s intended to bind Margit and Morgott two times per fight, but as one fan explains, “the Shackle taps everything in a massive radius,” hence why it destroys the spirit stones and reveals illusory walls.

To unlock Patches as a merchant, you simply need to spare him during the boss fight and reload the area. It’s an incredibly handy item to have, so if you’re just now venturing into the Land of Shadow, it’s probably worth a trip back to the start of the game first.
