Summary

Resident Evil 9hasn’t even been revealed yet, but there areplenty of rumours about the sequelto 2021’sResident Evil Village. However, one of the series' best-known leakers has some bad news for us today, as the project has reportedly been internally delayed.

According to the leaker known as Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 has been pushed back into “late 2025/2026”. This puts it well over a year away from release at best, so we’re unlikely to hear much about the game through official channels anytime soon if this really is the case. In fact, Dusk Golem further claims that there won’t be a grand reveal of the game this summer, potentially pushing trailers and gameplay reveals back into 2025 as well.

Resident Evil 9 Hit With Internal Delay, According To Leaker

This is in line with Dusk Golem’sprevious claim about Resident Evil 9 back in April, in which he first suggested that it may have been internally delayed. Here, he said it was initially down as a 2025 launch, with trailers shown off this year.

There is a silver lining to all of this, however. As we reported earlier today, Dusk Golem also claims thatremakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica are in the works right now. With this in mind, it makes sense that Resident Evil 9 isn’t ready to be revealed yet, asCapcombalances multiple projects at once. In fact, it was previously claimed thatthere are five Resident Evil games in development now. If we include all of the rumours circulating, they might be:

Capcom shut down a fan remake of Code: Veronica last year. Some believed this was due to the company secretly working on its own game behind the scenes.

Of course, Capcom only launchedResident Evil 4 Remakelast year, so it makes sense that we don’t have details on the next entry in the series just yet. It does, however, widen the gap between new instalments, as Resident Evil Village just turned three.

We’ll have to wait and see when Capcom is ready to reveal more about Resident Evil 9. In the meantime, rumours state thatit will star Leon Kennedyand opt foropen-world gameplay.
