Summary
According to prominent leaker Dusk Golem, the reported Resident Evil 1 remakeisn’t real. In fact, they claim that Capcom is actually developing remakes of Resident Evil 0 andCode Veronica.
Resident Evil 0 is a prequel that follows the STARS Bravo team – particularly Rebecca Chambers – as they make their way to Spencer Mansion. Code Veronica is a spin-off sequel to Resident Evil 2 that follows Claire Redfield as she searches for her brother Chris. Both are available on modern platforms, but neither has been remade yet.

Capcom may be remaking Resident Evil 0 ahead of a Resident Evil 1 remake to set the stage, but Dusk Golem claims that “RE1 is not in any form of development at all right now.”
Fans have long asked Capcom to remake Code Veronicaas it would tie up Claire’s story from the Resident Evil 2 remake. She ventures to Raccoon City and the police station in search of her brother but never finds him. If you want the conclusion to that story right now, you need to play a 24-year-old game–it’s a strange leap, to say the least.

Resident Evil 5 Remake Isn’t Happening Yet
A lot of fans think that Resident Evil 4 Remake and its DLC Separate Ways weresetting up a Resident Evil 5 remake, but Dusk Golem says that this isn’t the case.
“RE5 is not actively in [development] now either,” they tweeted. “It’s been funny seeing this be what people think is happening publicly.”

Capcom may return to Resident Evil 5 down the line, as Code Veronica not only ties up Claire Redfield’s story, it also lays the foundations for Albert Wesker’s return. We’ll just have to wait and see.
As for Resident Evil 9, which is expected to be the next game in the series, Dusk Golem claims that it will not be announced this Summer and that it’s further away than previously thought, launching in late 2025 or 2026. Reportedly, it will be set ina rural town on an island, withLeon Kennedy returning as a main character, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we see it for ourselves.
