Summary

Stardew Valleyhas been around for almost a decade, and in that time has received plenty of updates that add new interactions and content to the game. As such, its story is surprisingly deep and expansive for a cozy farming game, with plenty of breadcrumbs for you to pick up.

It’s possible to have played the game for years and stillonly scratch the surfaceof what it has to offer. Certain interactions require you to make some questionable choices, or be in the right place at the right time. If you don’t have the patience to discover every interaction the game has, indulge your curiosity with this list.

Harvey talks to the player in the Stardrop Saloon along with the other marriage candidates

9Cheaters Never Prosper

There are 12 bachelors and bachelorettes for you to date in Stardew Valley, and it’s possible to break the hearts of all of them. Simply betray the trust ofevery eligible man or womanin town, and you’ll find your significant others in the Stardrop Saloon one day as they plot your revenge. It’s possible to unlock this event twice, with both male and female NPCs.

However, there aren’t as many drawbacks to being a cheater as you might think. All six male or female marriage candidates (depending on who you’ve romanced) will stop talking to you for a while, but your relationship with the townsfolk won’t change at all. So much for there being consequences for your actions.

8Meet Mr. Qi At The Summit

It’s more than a little funny that two of the most easily obtained interactions on this list are those you may obtain by cheating, either romantically or in terms of game mechanics. Normally, the summit is reached after completing everything the game has to offer, but it can be visited earlier if you use cheats.

If you earned your visit to the summit, you’ll reflect upon your accomplishments with your spouse. Reach it early, however, andMr. Qiwill visit you instead, berating you for your cravenness before pushing you off the cliff. You’ll wake up at Harvey’s clinic, but your pride is forever wounded.

Stardew Valley Witch flies over coop on a farm during winter

7Krobus And The Witch

Krobusis definitely a character worth befriending for several reasons. In addition to being one of the best merchants in the game, Krobus can move into your farm as a platonic roommate and provide you with a wealth of information about the world’s lore. Apart from the Wizard and the Junimos, he’s probably most players' main connection to the supernatural.

Visiting the secret woods on a rainy Friday during fall or winter may trigger a special cutscene if you’re already friends with Krobus. In these cases, you might find Krobus interactingwith the Witch. His exact relationship with the Witch is left to interpretation, since Krobus doesn’t speak on Fridays for religious reasons, so this scene raises more questions than it answers.

A Strange Capsule in Stardew Valley

6Marnie And Lewis

It’s not exactly a secret thatMarnieandLewisare an item, despite the two of them never being willing to admit it to the greater public. You’re even given a quest to retrieve Lewis' boxers from Marnie’s house, which you can only do if you have at least four friendship hearts with her.

There are several interactions regarding Marnie and Lewis' relationship in Stardew Valley, some of which tie intothe secret notes you findaround town. The rarest, however, is a random dialog you may trigger by entering Marnie’s house, where she expresses disappointment that Lewis hasn’t showed up that day.

5The Strange Capsule And Alien Sightings Around Town

The Strange Capsule has been a feature in Stardew Valley for a long time now, with a tiny chance of appearing on your farm every night. Once it spawns, you’re able to examine the weird alien fetus inside for a few days before it breaks containment and slinks off into the wider world.

Once the strange creature in the capsule has fled, there’s a small chance you may catch a brief glimpse of your new alien friend around town. you may find them in different areas of Pelican Town, although they’ll only be visible for a few seconds before scampering off. The bus stop is where you’re most likely to see them.

4Random Interactions With Jas And Vincent

It’s not exactly a mystery as to why Vincent and Jas are always seen in each other’s company. Unless the player has children, they’re the only two kids in town, so the lack of anyone else their age leaves them with few other options for playmates. Fortunately, the two seem to be good friends.

The various interactions you can unlock withJasandVincentdon’t have any special criteria to unlock them; you just stumble upon them randomly while going about your business. Most of these interactions involve the two in normal conversations with each other, with all the jokes and low-stakes arguments you’d expect from kids their age.

3Krobus And The Dwarf

The Elemental Wars are one of the more obscure parts of Stardew’s lore, having locked dwarves and shadow people into a bloody conflict for years. The story can be unlocked through various artifacts and tomes you can find in the world, but it doesn’t affect the lives of most characters.

The one exception to this rule is the matter of bothKrobusand theDwarf, who you can find duking it out in the sewers if you’re friends with both of them. Thankfully, the Wizard shows up to break it up before anyone gets hurt, but it’s clear that some ancient grudges never fade.

2Kent And Jodi

This interaction is rare enough on its own, but it’s made even more elusive by the fact that almost no one marriesSam. Nevertheless, should you choose that route, you’ll be rewarded with interactions between Jodi and Kent that make the game feel more realistic and down to earth.

JodiandKentrushed into marriage while both of them were still young, due to Kent’s military career. It’s clear that they both care for each other, but both of your in-laws musing over what could have been definitely brings more complex flavors to what could have otherwise been a saccharine game.

1Be Haunted By Your Own Child

This interaction becomes unlockable any time after you permanently turn your children into birds. While you’re able to do this at any time after unlocking the witch’s house, you’re also objectively a terrible parent if you choose to go this route. Still, it’s tempting to forsake your own flesh and blood for the sake of completionism.

A forsaken child may sometimes haunt your TV set, appearing as an Ancient Doll. Receiving a creepy phone call from them is an even rarer interaction that can randomly occur at any point. The game will never let you forget your sins, even as you attempt to go on with your cozy farm life.
